Hey it's my blog, so I can celebrate here if I want to. I just found my first 2018 Super Treasure Hunt in the wild. Hooray for me. I have always argued that the best thing about Supers is finding them, randomly. Many love the brickseek-watching, overnight-raiding, early door warming no-holds-barred pursuit of Supers, and … Continue reading My Super Treasure Hunt Drought is over.
The holiday season really is a nice time to go hunting. One store, and some great finds. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDaUUPPg2qo
You hit the pegs. Are they full? Cards crisp? Yes? Then look to see what treasure might be there. Cards soft? All kinds of mixes represented? Spidey cars mixed in? Move on. Check the premium pegs. Check the Matchbox pegs. Auto World if they are there. Hidden dump bin? Shipper? Clear? Ok, finish with the … Continue reading Searching for gems in the Hot Wheels 9-packs
I know. Whhaaaaaaaaaaa. I have nothing to complain about. But how, when, and where someone finds a Super is always interesting, and that includes what kind of luck I might have. I don't hunt like I used to, and things have changed in my area quite a bit. The hunt is quite the racket. But … Continue reading I don’t know what December will bring, but so far this is my only Hot Wheels Super TH find in 2018
Organization Day! The holidays are approaching, and the time has come for my final diecast donation to my local children's hospital. The cases have accumulated and they need to go to their new home. That means digging into the storage unit and getting them delivered. It also means making space. My storage unit gets out … Continue reading Digging for Hot Wheels Treasure in a mess of a storage unit.
I have heard the rumors, and seen the images. (I have even heard of some shady shenanigans in Southern California by some trying to get to them.) Special shippers are hitting Kroger stores all over the country, and they have variety to say the least. I found a fresh one today in my travels. Four-sided, … Continue reading I found one of those “A bit of everything” shippers at a Kroger store. And yeah, Kmart exclusives (!?!)
Yesterday I walked into a rural grocery store and walked by the seasonal section. I like the seasonal section in this store. There are always Hot Wheels. And yesterday was no exception. A fresh 4-sided shipper and a small dump bin. And a little bit further down, this: An unopened basic shipper! These moments don't … Continue reading Guess what? Super Treasure Hunts are hard to find. And that is how it should be.
Sometimes you don't think too much about what you found. You just find it, enjoy it, and move on. That happened several years ago when I came across a dump bin at a rural Kmart and pulled not one, not two, but seven Super Ford Focus (Focii?). It was there, and I enjoyed the find. … Continue reading This was a first: Knee-deep in sealed M2 cases.
I don’t hit a lot of fresh Hot Wheels bins or shippers. But I did yesterday. An early-morning drive and Walmart stop yielded this surprise, and I took a few models with me. The last Zamacs of 2018 (that Demon!) and the first models of 2019. Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFY04DfCjhE
Walmart has the Zamacs, Target the Red Editions, Kmart its Collector Day models, and Kroger its unique colors. But don't forget Walgreens. The last few years, Hot Wheels has done an exclusive model for Walgreens. Just one, but still. I like the exclusives, and hunting down the one Walgreens model isn't a bad thing. Plus, … Continue reading Don’t forget Walgreens has its Hot Wheels exclusive too.
