I have four 1/43 scale Ignition Models in my collection. They sit right next to me here at my desk. And I marvel at them every time I look at them:
They are resin, and they are insanely detailed. Whenever I look at them, thought one is how awesome they are, and thought two is how cool it would be to see these in 1/64.
Well, guess what?
They are coming. Ignition is going 1/64, and is teaming up with Tarmac Works to get them out. More details to come.
But, as I will passionately argue, there is no better time to be collecting 1/64. And it keeps getting better.
Great, another line of fantastically detailed 1/64 scale cars! What? They’re making the same castings of of the same models 4 or 5 other companies are already making? Yay.
I would agree that they are starting with at least one already highly produced make and model. However the ignition models will be greatly different as they focus heavily on the modified car scene rather then factory spec reproductions.
I couldn’t be happier with the addition of another collector quality 1/64. Between Autoworld, Tarmac Works, TLV, and now Ignition, I am finding hard to spend my pennies on HW anymore.
Now, if they’ll just paint them in Gulf colors too! 😉
This is great news! It’s worth noting that the offerings from these relatively new players like Tarmac Works and Mini GT/Top Speed Models are remarkably affordable at a time when offerings from Kyosho and TLVN are getting more and more expensive. Here’s hoping the very credible competition will help keep price hikes in check.
