The Lamley Daily: Hot Wheels Boulevard ’77 Pontiac Firebird

Model: Hot Wheels ’77 Pontiac Firebird

Line: 2012 Boulevard

Where to get it: Boulevard ’77 Firebird on ebay

Why it’s in the collection: This casting was a most welcome improvement over the Hot Bird when it was released in the Modern Classics line.  A little larger, a little lower, and more detailed than the Hot Bird.  It didn’t realize it’s full potential until this Boulevard release in black.  There was a Smokey and the Bandit version released in Entertainment afterwards, but this is still my favorite.  And it is the only version of this casting in my collection.

  1. Awesome boulevard 1977 Pontiac Firebird you reviewed congrats thumbs up. I like it and I love it thumbs up.

    1. Yeah, the one featured in Speedhunters and the Year one Bandit are both two of the greatest examples of ultra modified ’77 Trans Am’s. HW’s should do something along those lines. The ultimate version would of course consist of the iconic black & gold, but white & blue or silver and red would work well too.

    1. They have to be viewed in different lights though. One has to remember there is nearly a 30 year difference in designs. Different mindsets for both castings.

  2. This is one of the Boulevard releases that eluded me, which is too bad because I’d love to have it. I do agree that it betters the Hot Bird, but doomus is right, they’re from completely different eras. That said, they did a Hot Wheels Garage release with the Hot Bird in gold that looks really nice. But this one’s just awesome.

  3. The ‘Retro Entertainment’ version of the exact same casting ’77 Trans Am HAS more detail on front grill and then in the rear ‘tail lights, a license plate, and TRANS AM decal above plate…. whereas the ‘Boulevard’ version does not. HOW the ‘Boulevard’ version is selling for $50- $60 on Epay and ‘Retro’ can be had for much less ELUDES me, and am now on the fence to selling off my ‘Boulevard version.
