Leading up to the Matchbox Gathering Convention this week, it’s gonna be all Event Exclusives from years past, leading up to showcases on this year’s models.

Why it’s in the collection: Why would it not be? I have attended the Matchbox Gathering of Friends Convention in New Mexico every one of the last nine years. This Firebird was a Dinner Model, and I was there to claim one. There is another Early Registrant variant with the bird on the hood, but this one is more accurate. It looks beautiful in gold with that Formula racing stripe.
Matchbox will always go all out on the Gathering models. This Firebird is a nice example of that.

Looks like this Firebird, for example, would make an awesome Super TH if MBX ever considered. I’m if that ever happened the scalping and greed would ensue.
