The Weekly 5-Pack: February 10, 2025 Edition

the weekly 5-pack diecast news

It’s hard to believe we’re already at our third edition of the Weekly 5-Pack already! 2025 is really rocking and the diecast news just keeps on coming — so buckle up buckeroos and get ready for another helping of diecast news.

  1. Bigfoot (and Hot Wheels) Invades Canada

Some of Team Hot Wheels will soon be leaving sunny California and heading up to the Great White North for the 2025 Canadian International AutoShow.

The 2025 AutoShow will not only feature some of the real-life Hot Wheels, like the 2006 Hot Wheels Custom Mustang and the Star Wars X-Wing Fighterâ„¢ Carship, it will also showcase my personal favorite monster truck: Bigfoot. It’s a big year for Bigfoot as they are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2025 — which they will celebrate with a bunch of special blue and gold diecast trucks and playsets being released throughout the year.

The event also stars a certain Hot Wheels Key Principal Designer, Bryan Benedict, who will be hosting a autograph signing/meet & greet during special collector’s hours on the 14th. So if you’re a Hot Wheels fan in Canada head over and say hi to the Hot Wheels crew and check out some of the full sized-rides.

  1. Round 2 Drops More New Product Previews

Round 2 is one of the few ( and possibly the only)brands that drops regular preview videos of their upcoming products. I really enjoy their vids as they give a look ahead at what’s coming from not only the 1/64th scale Johnny Lightning and AutoWorld lines, but they also cover other scale diecast, plastic models, and slot cars. Their latest video features an absolutely killer Johnny Lightning 1955 Bel-Air hobby-exclusive drag car as well as some new versions of AW’s awesome 1965 Ford GT40 castings.

Check out their video here:

  1. DiecastZ hits $4M on Whatnot

DiecastZ, the top diecast seller on the Whatnot app, hit a staggering $4,000,000 in diecast sales this past week. They have been streaming live sales on the app since 2021 and have amassed over 25,000 followers — and with over 180,000 sales to their names, are definitely making the most out of their weekly streaming sessions.

While this feat is a huge accomplishment in itself, the team at DiecastZ also uses their massive success to give back — between January 20-26, they donated 10% of all their Whatnot sales to California Red cross fire relief for the recent fires, which ended up topping $3,000.

A huge congrats goes out to DiecastZ for their Whatnot milestone!

  1. Ooh! The mail’s here! That means we get to see our old friend, Mailtruck!

Greenlight Collectibles announced on IG their casting of the new Oshkosh Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) is ready to be gobbled up by diorama designers and fleet vehicle collectors like. The real new zero-emissions electric NGDV will slowly be replacing the beloved (or despised depending on who you ask) Grumman LLV that was introduced in the now ancient times of the mid 1980s — and oddly enough Greenlight also made the LLV a few years ago in various scales too, so they have all your postal diecast needs covered.

  1. 7-Eleven goes 1-SixtyFour

American convenience store and Big Gulp pioneer 7-Eleven has previewed more exclusive brand-themed diecast, but this time it’s a Hot Wheels.

Spotted by diecast collector Jacob Lafler at a 7-Eleven convention this past week and posted to the Hot Wheels Collectors group on FB, the new release, a 7-Eleven green Toyota Supra, will be shipped to stores around July 26, 2025 (as noted by a sign on the shipper). Notably the car is a Silver line release, which is HWs newest mid-tier line that features full tampos and upgraded wheels. There was also a line of Hot Wheels Skate products as well, meaning we’ll more than likely be getting multiple products at once.

7-Eleven did have a line of AutoWorld cars that seem to be well received, so my guess is the Supra will do very well on the second hand market. But does this mean the end of the 7-Eleven AW cars? Unknown at this time, but I am sure we’ll find out as the HWs release in July gets closer.

In-House Party: the Weekly Lamley Drops

The Lamley Group channel dropped a HUGE 53-minute long Youtube spot featuring the absolutely jaw-dropping collection of Tomica Limited Vintage Ferraris. John’s collection of these cars is nothing short of amazing, so be sure to check out his video and get familiar with what Ferraris Tomica has to offer.

@championdjk unboxed some Hot Wheels $THs and chases in his latest video:

@doomusrlc unboxed an absolute loot drop worth of 100% Hot Wheels cars in his latest video:

As for 64Wheels, I dropped an unboxing of Hot Wheels Speed Graphics cars, which I enjoyed but my cars were sadly plagued with several paint issues – an unusual occurrence for the HWs Silver line!

  1. amazing numbers from diecastz. I have bought from them on whatnot. I did my first whatnot stream last saturday for my action figures. It didn’t go well lol but was worth a try. Might try instagram live next.

Did TLV ever do a Ferrari F430 Scuderia? I just got the Kyosho and I love it except for the intake vents are not as detailed as I’d like.
