Matchbox Leipzig 2024 Auction A

It’s that time of the year again. After the Albuquerque USA convention in July, we get the Leipzig convention in Germany, running alongside the Modell-Hobby-Spiel event. As has been the scenario for a number of years now, Dirk Schleuer, who runs the European convention, has a lot of auction items available to those who are going, but for those who don’t, he doesn’t ignore you. What he does is a 3-auction set-up. Auction A will run from Saturday 14th September at 2pm Berlin time (this is GMT +2), and will conclude on Saturday 21st at 2pm (Berlin time). Please remember to ensure you know the difference between your time zone and GMT+2.

These are the dates and times in German and English for those who are interested. As is the routine, Auction A is open to the world. All you have to do is submit your bids by email to Dirk. Auction B is just for those in attendance. When the convention finishes, Auction C will begin, and run another week coming out of the event. Check back next week, as I will be posting Auction C items then, for those who may be interested.

This is the guideline for the auctions. As Dirk says, he will send out daily emails to those participating. The first person who bids a certain amount is the high bidder. If he receives an email from somebody else with the same bid amount (in euros, please remember that, it’s in Germany), they will be informed that this is the high bid, but it is not them. It has worked in the past, so why change it. So, let’s get on with the lots.

Lot A01 is an FEP sample on blister of the 2010 basic range version 2 of the MB684 VW Golf V GTi in green with a printed detail on the roof.

Lot A02 is a 3D print of the MB1075 Arctic Thunder (remember this one?) from before it began production in 2018.

Lot A03 is an orange 3D print of the MB973 Runway Wrangler from before it began production in 2015.

Lot A04 is an FEP of the MB801 International WorkStar Brush Fire Truck from 2013. This is a metal body and metal base model that was going to be a promotion for the 60th Anniversary, ended up cancelled, but was eventually sold on Amazon.

Lot A05 is an early 3D prototype print of the MB1091 eStar Electric Van from before production began in 2018. Note that this early shot still featured wing mirrors, which were not on the production model.

Lot A06 is a coloured 3D print of the MB1205 ’16 Alfa Romeo Giulia from before production started in 2020.

Lot A07 is a blue painted pre-production metal sample of the MB1354 ’70 Ford Ranchero from before production began in 2023.

Lot A08 is a 3D print of the MB1074 MBX Flatbed King from before production began in 2018. Please note, Dirk has noted an area of damage at the front corner.

Lot A09 is a pre-production sample of the MB1086 Scania P360 Fire Engine from before production began in 2018.

Lot A10 is a secret. Ha ha! Well, it will be unveiled on the Friday of the convention.

So, this is it for Auction A. 10 lots. Good luck with bidding. The auction begins Saturday 14th at 2pm (GMT +2), whatever that translates into your time zone, and runs for 1 week, with lots closing at 2pm (GMT +2) on the Saturday (21st) of the convention.
