(Find the CCA BMW M4 on eBay here and on AliExpress here)
I have to admit, I am ashamed of myself for not covering more of MSZ’s stuff. They really do have a place in my heart though for making such a strong arrival into the 1:64/3-inch world in 2022, strong enough infact for their Audi A7 Sportback to make my 2022 best of. And really I should have covered them more since as they are highly deserving of attention. But I aim to make up for it with this one: The CCA BMW M4.

CCA are an MSZ sub-brand, so the M4 casting may be familiar to a few of you already. The difference is in the slightly more premium execution; There’s a collector’s box as well as more accurate wheels and a fresh new colour.

And there’s some lovely details. The BMW 666M wheels have been accurately replicated and the metallic purple paint looks incredible. Whilst it doesn’t match any pantone on the BMW colour chart, it certainly looks like it could be from the exclusive pallet of BMW’s “Individual” range and it catches and reflects light beautifully giving it an ever shifting tone.

The decal and detail work are nicely done, aside from the overly large M4 badge at the rear and a wonky front license plate. The front lights are decals, and perfectly placed whereas the rears and the grilles are painted on. There’s also the pleasing addition on painted exhaust tips, adding another touch of realism.

The carbon roof has been cleverly replicated in ridged plastic and there’s a relatively detailed interior visible through the windows.

And there’s more. MSZ set themselves apart from other brands by building suspension into their models, and thankfully this is something the CCA range retains. All the MSZ cars I have handled ride wonderfully on nicely sprung suspension, and apart from the Toyota Camry, they retain a pretty accurate stance.

But even if you think this BMW or indeed any other MSZ/CCA car is riding a bit high or needing some new shoes, then the brand have another trick up their sleeve.

The bases are screw on, meaning adjustments and wheel swaps are easy for even the most amateur of diecast tuner. And the brand actively embrace the modified diecast community. It’s a unique selling point for sure, and one I find very refreshing.

This is a very very cool diecast and one that comes at a great price. With shipping off AliExpress it came to just over £5. Bang for buck never looked so good.
