Lamley Daily Hot Wheels VW Golf

Model: VW Golf

Release: Hot Wheels 1990 Mainline

Why I am featuring it: Hot Wheels from the early 90s featured some wild paint schemes. This is one of them. This is the MK2 Golf casting from Hot Wheels. I believe it is the first release of the car. The casting was used from 1990 to 1996 and then it was retooled and reappeared in the mainline in 2009. The retool is still used today and last appeared in 2019. The casting is basic. It has a metal body and a plastic base like the majority of licensed Hot Wheels mainline models.

In my opinion, this is one of the coolest releases of this car. Also, in my experience, this is a harder one to find than most of the other variations. I hope you find it interesting.

  1. I thought the Golf with “Fahrvergnügen” on the sides was the pinnacle of ’90s, but this deco wins the prize. It’s hideously wonderful!
