Toy Fair 2020 report : Majorette huge program for 2020 !

I am more than happy to be able to relate here the news shown in Toy Fair 2020.

Toy Fair (called the Spielwarenmesse) is holding every year in Nuremberg, Germany and it is the biggest Toy Show of the world. And of course most of the manufacturers are present to show all news, future releases and prototypes.

It is the place to be for every diecast nerds.

Courtesy of Mininches, I am able to share pictures of the event for Lamley readers. By the way, don’t hesitate to have a look at Mininches.com, the French media for diecast cars (1/64 to 1:18 scale).

Among many manufacturers (Spark, Minichamps, Mini GT, TSM, Greenlight, BBR, Schuco, Norev, Solido, Ottomobile,TopSpeedModels …) I will focus in this article on Majorette – and it is quite a big deal.

Majorette 2019 program was at it’s best, 2020 seems to be even better (you will now why shortly …).

Majorette’s offer is divided in many lines, and I will try to make it clear line-by-line.

Premium line :

Majorette with opening parts, introduced some years ago, very nice finish for the target price. News are the latter :

  • AMG GT R
  • Range Rover Evoque (new tooling)
  • Bentley Continental GT Breitling (new tooling)
  • Mercedes AMG G WAGON Landaulet
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia
  • Kia Stinger
  • Nissan Nismo GT-R GT3
  • Porsche Cayenne (new tooling)

To me, the highlight is definitely the Kia Stinger, and Alfa Romeo Giulia. They are really new toolings, and the execution seems very good.

Street cars line :

This line is a bit under Premium line, no opening parts, not always suspensions, cheaper. We have :

  • Lamborghini Centenario
  • Hyundai i30
  • Suzuki Jimny
  • Ford GT (new color)
  • Toytota Hiace (hope to see it in Europe and not only in Asia)
  • Toyota Hilux (idem)

I am very impatient to see the Hyundai i30, a manufacturer more and more represented at our scale.

Racing line :

In the spirit of the Premium stuff, Racing line is very well done as well.

  • Mercedes AMG GT R
  • Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 (new tooling)
  • Toyota Celica rally vintage
  • Opel Corsa rally (we should see it in the Premium line too)
  • McLaren 650 S
  • Lamborghini Urus
  • Jaguar F-Type

Vintage cars :

It has become a habit for manufacturers to have a vintage line of cars in the lineup, and Majorette is one of them.

The new tooling for 2020 is the iconic Renault 5 Turbo, in red. They also plan a gift pack (and maybe singles later) with rust.

Deluxe Vintage line :

Started last year, this line is composed of vintage cars in premium treatment, meaning rubber tires, specific wheels, opening parts, special colors and special packaging with collectors box.

The highlight seems to be this fun VW T1 panel truck with opening roof, making it a nice food truck for once.

The very appreciated Vaillant Porsche 934 will be recolored in white too.

Deluxe Premium line :

In the same vein, this line is made of Premium cars upgraded (rubber tires, specific wheels, specific decoration or paint schemes, collectors box).

2 new land Rover Defender (cool!) and a new version of the Nissan GT-R.

Pink line :

Think girly. Majorette had dedicated a line for girls in the past, it seems back for 2020. It is – obviously – mainly pink, and some trailers seem fun to collect anyway.

Promotional lines : Bayern Munchen

Majorette wouldn’t be Majorette without promo cars, and this year the highlight is a partnership between soccer team Bayern MĂ¼nchen x Majorette x Audi. Many variants with numbers matching the players, and you can see a new Man bus which seems very nice.

The surprise : Formula E

It is the first surprise of the Toy Fair from Majorette. They established a partnership with FIA and official Formula E gen 2 cars championship. Cars should arbor 2020 liveries. The packaging represents a helmet. To me, whether we like it or not, those replicas show how Majorette is pushing hard to become a real must.

The icing on the cake : Porsche official product

This is SO cool. Porsche and Majorette have established a real strong partnership, allowing Majorette to be one of the first manufacturers (at least at this scale) to launch the new Porsche 911 (992). Man ! Look at it, it is so nice.

First of all, the 2020 Majorette Toy Fair model is a red Porsche 992. As it was revealed some weeks ago, it was no scoop Majorette was tooling it.

But as many expected it in the Premium range, few imagined to have a dedicated Porsche line. And as Mininches reported it, Majorette really wanted to put this partnership forward. It is bound to be very popular.

The special Premium Porsche line up is for now made of 6 models, a cabrio and 5 coupes, all with rubber tires, accessories like ski roofs or surf roofs.

I am overexcited by the police version (strangely marked Police and not Polizei) and the green cab.

Is is the first time I see a Porsche at this scale with opening hood. It looks promising.

I will be very attentive to this version shown in a gift pack” 24h Majorette”, in homage to the 24h of Le Mans version.

But there is more. Count on Porsche Edition Gift packs with exclusive colors, an entire set with Garage, showroom and track experience Porsche (still with exclusive colors).

2020 should be a very interesting year for Majorette, pushing and pushing hard to be leader on the shelves. Fore sure count me in for the Porsche exclusives, and complete my collection with at least a new tooling of each casting.

  1. Majorette makes some nice castings but I’ve been turned off by their big scale. Also not a fan of opening features as they usually mean huge gaps and improper alignment. I’ll be looking for the Alfa, Stinger and VW bus for sure though.

  2. The details are a bit coarse on many of the castings, but I absolutely love the Formula E set. It’s modern and relevant, and hopefully will appeal across the age demographics.
