Lamley Awards Poll: What was the Best Hot Wheels REGULAR Treasure Hunt in 2018?

A Lamley Awards first!

I am finally acknowledging the Hot Wheels Regular Treasure Hunts on the Lamley Awards.  Just acknowledging them in general is a rare occurrence on Lamley, but at the request of my friend Owen, I am finally doing it.

Owen is the 12-year-old son of a good friend of mine, and both of them visited the Lamley Studios this weekend to help me film this showcase.  I don’t have any of the 2018 Regulars, save one, so Owen brought all of his for me to use.

So here we go.  Owen helped me make the video, and now you can vote on the best.  I think I have an idea, but let’s see how it plays out.

Watch the video and vote below.  Thanks Owen for your help!

  1. My vote goes to bump around! The bump around is freaking cool. One of the few generics I collect. I would even argue that it’s not a generic because they are scale model of the real thing. Anyways, it’s cool

  2. Kool Kombi gets my vote. My second favourite is Quick Bite because it looks cool and doesn’t have silly coloured wheels.

  3. The Kool Kombi is definitely “kool”, but my vote went to the Quick Bite. For some reason I really like anything food truck-related that Mattel does (hence why I collect all Matchbox “Chow Mobiles” I can find) even though I’m more a licensed casting kind of guy. I might’ve still gone for the Kool Kombi, but the steelies on the Quick Bite put it into first place, and I’ll never turn down a sushi-themed food truck.

Shoutout to the Bump Around as well. Like David Zimmerman above, it’s one of the only generics I collect as well, for the same reasons he mentioned. I have just about enough of them to do a make-believe bumper car arena, though I don’t have this one.

  4. While the Batmobile is the only one I’d likely add to my collection, it just wasn’t “special’ or different enough to get my vote. Ultimately I voted for the Kool Kombi. This one has a very unique deco that makes it stand apart and the next closest thing to a licensed vehicle here. I own the Kool Kombi in one or two other decos and the whole peace and love hippy thing isn’t my thing, but I can appreciate the effort and how this one stands out.
