Going Alfa Romeo today. The 105/115 Series Coupes are as pretty as any car ever, and there are some fantastic replicas in 1/64. So for today’s Saturday Showcase, I am looking at mine, from Hot Wheels to Kyosho to Tomica Limited Vintage to Matchbox.
And speaking of Matchbox, the Giulia Sprint has a crazy, and frustrating history. I walk though that as well. Enjoy:
I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish Matchbox does the new Giulia Quadrifoglio. It is only for them to do and not Hot Wheels.
I am a bit surprised that Alfa would have an issue with the pearl white paint, but did NOT take issue with the tri-spoke wheels or the gawd-awful chrome interiors. As for other colors other than red or white, Matchbox could have called the GTA either a Giulia Sprint GT or a GTV. The differences on a 1/64 model would be pretty much undetectable, and the range of colors would open up considerably. We own a real ’66 Giulia Sprint GT, and it pained me to see the MBX model issued with a chrome interior. When the premium model was released with a black interior, I had a nice collector-moment sigh of relief.
