The second Gran Turismo set is on its way. Hobby dealers like Wheel Collectors just got it (sold out), and stores like Kroger and Walgreens (I assume) will have them soon. There is a some good stuff in this set, and here is a preview:
Picking a favorite is hard, but if I had to choose, I’ll go with the McLaren or Renault R.S. 01. That being said, if the BMW had at least front or rear tampos, that would be the clear winner. Your choice?
Dark horse pick: Megane. That looks so fly.
Oh, and the Ford GT is in the same color as the star car in Gran Turismo 4. How’s that?

If the R34 had rear tampos it wold have been stellar! But I will be passing…..
No Walmart? It seem odd that my only way of obtaining these is to stake out Walgreens, of all places (no Kroger in my area). That’s not encouraging, especially because I’d like to get every one of these.
Considering these will probably be £3.47 each if they get released in the UK, I’ll only get the McLaren…
Larger rear wheels on the McLaren, Corvette, and Ford GT spoil the lines and make them less realistic than the others. I’ll only be buying the Skyline and the BMW I’m afraid if and when they appear in the UK.
I say it adds, at least from my perspective. The rear haunches on the F1 GTR looks even better with the offset, same with the Ford, though not as much as the Corvette. The wheels on the F1 GTR fit the design of the car, especially at the back, where the lines just meet the wheels so well. The Ford works because it’s what it is if you saw the intro for Gran Turismo 4.
The McLaren F1 is easily my pick as the best of the lot. It looks stunning! Perfect color and perfect graphics. My #2 spot goes to the BMW M4 Safety Car, even though the lack of front and rear tampos is a real bummer. Moving up to #3 is the Nissan Skyline, which I hadn’t originally been that excited about. Turns out it has a spectacular set of side graphics. #4 is the Renault R.S. 01. Love this casting and I’m a sucker for battleship gray cars. The Ford GT is looking better than I was expecting and the Lancer is exactly as expected, which is nice that it is relatively clean. I have to say I am more disappointed in the Megan than before. I’m just not loving the tire mark graphics over the hood/roof. The Corvette is meh.
WOW – The UK has had them already, and mine is on the way – what is wrong with Mattel to get them to the UK shores so early, we would normally have to wait months before we got them.
Where in the UK have these appeared Jon if you don’t mind me asking. I havnt seen them yet
