Why it’s in the collection: I don’t think there is much explaining needed for why this is in the collection. I am working on a feature ranking the Hot Wheels Skyline castings. It will come soon. Right now I can’t pick a winner, but the R33 is most certainly in the running.
Two batches released so far in 2018, and two new Skyline castings. It’s a thrill for j-tin fans, and hopefully a nice development for everyone else. It is exciting to see the wonderful hodgepodge that has come from Hot Wheels the last few years, and the R33 is a great example. It is most certainly lost between the R32 and R34, but deserving of some love. That love came from HW Designer Ryu Asada, who created a near perfect model. It sits perfectly, reflecting its era. It looks gorgeous in blue, and the like the R30 released in Batch A, it benefits from front and rear deco.
We know of two more Skylines coming in 2018, and surely more after that. This one will be a standout.
I can’t wait for this to land here in New Zealand. Also can’t wait for the new TE37 wheels to come out so I can put them on this!
Is Hot Wheels going to bring out real riders that look like the Volk TE37 wheels? Oh man! That would be awesome
Oh man, scrolled back through Lam’s Hot Wheels articles and found it. They look great on that R34.
Can’t wait to see all the variations they’ll do of them. Satin gold and gunmetal gray would be great variations for them to do.
Which would look better? Gloss black? or satin black?

I don’t profess to be a JDM fanatic, but I’ve enjoyed the prolific output of interesting Japanese stuff over the past few years. I have to say this might be the best Skyline Hot Wheels has done yet…it’s just so perfect in so many ways. I can’t wait to (hopefully) pick this up soon.
