The first Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt of 2018 is a great sign of things to come.

Showcasing the Supers here on Lamley will never be an unveiling.  The Super game remains strong, and that means hunger for info will continue to inspire leaks from the Hot Wheels factory.

It’s a bummer that news of new Supers usually comes from unfinished models shown in grainy photos.  The only thing I can do is to at least showcase the Supers in the best way possible – through good photography of Mattel-approved models.  So that is what I will do.

Starting with the Datsun 620, I will showcase the Supers throughout 2018 as they start hitting stores.  Undoubtedly the Super-obsessed among us will know what to look for, but this is my chance to help us appreciate these beauties before we move on to the next one.

And beauties they are.  Especially the first of 2018, the Datsun 620.  Already a popular casting, this particular 620, whether in its basic or Super forms, is a step above.

Exclude the Super for a second, and my thought is this mint green 620 with camo trim would be a hit, ESPECIALLY sitting on the new steelie basic wheels.  For me this is the best wheel this casting has ever had, including premium.  They work perfectly.

But even the awesome wheels can’t overtake the Super.  The whole package is what a Super is all about.  Extra deco, great paint, and fantastic Real Riders.  Maybe it is just the dark wheels, but this Super is just beautiful.

And it is out now.  2018 cases are hitting TRU, Walmart, and Target.  That means this 620 along with a slew of other good ones.

So go find one.  Tag us at #lamleyfinds on IG if you do.

  1. Awesome Datsun 620 pickup truck’s regular version and super treasure hunt version you open up and reviewed congrats thumbs up. I will be on the hunt for those today thumbs up.

  2. Oh man! those dark 5-spoke wheels on the super are so good looking. I really hope we see those on some Japanese cars in the car culture line in the future.

  3. I found the regular Datsun yesterday. Question. Is this still considered a regular Treasure Hunt or are there no more regular but only Super?

    1. They still make t hunts but collectors don’t like them
Collectors would rather have 10 of the one super then scalp them online

  4. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m a little surprised this casting has only appeared once in a premium line, which was the Trucks line in Car Culture. Hopefully that changes in the near future.

  5. It’s interesting how different the paint shades are between the two…there’s usually some amount of variation, but this is like a whole different color altogether. Regardless, both of these are stunners.
