M2 Machines unveil the brand new Auto-Japan line.

We’ve all known it is coming.  M2 Machines finally gave us our first look at what will surely by one of the most anticipated releases of 2017:

Included in Auto-Japan 1:64 scale Release JPN01 are 3 New castings (Stock & Custom) 1) 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R – The Hakosuka is covered in Silver Metallic with Black interior. This GT-R is the base model, there's no wing or front spoiler. The car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. Power is from the 2.0 S20 engine producing 160 hp. The rims are steel wheels with black wall tires. 2) 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R – The Hakosuka is covered in Bright White with Black interior. This GT-R is painted with Yellow factory racing graphics, there's also a wing & front spoiler. The car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. Power is from the 2.0 S20 engine producing 160 hp. The rims are steel wheels with back wall tires. 3) CHASE – 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R – The Hakosuka is covered in Bright White with Black interior. This GT-R is painted with Yellow factory racing graphics, there's also a wing & front spoiler. The car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. Power is from the 2.0 S20 engine producing 160 hp. The rims are Black Chrome steel wheels with Red tires. 4) 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z Z432 – This Fairlady is painted White with Black interior. The model is the Z432, this model featured the S20 engine with 160 hp. The "432" referred to the 4 valves per cylinder, 3 Mikuni carburetors & the 2 camshafts. Car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. The wheels are stock with black wall tires. 5) 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z Z432 “Custom” – Painted in a vintage race them in Red with a White rocker stripe. This Z 432 model sits on a lowered chassis. Car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. The wheels are stock with black Goodyear Blue Line tires. The bumpers have also be removed to save weight. 6) SUPER CHASE – 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z Z432 – This Fairlady is RAW with Red interior. Car has right hand steering and outside fender mirrors. The wheels are stock with Red tires. 7) 1969 Nissan Bluebird 1600 SSS Sedan – This Bluebird is painted Blue w/Black vinyl top with Black interior. The car is right hand steering and has outside fender mirrors. The wheels are chrome stock with a thin white wall tires. 8) 1969 Nissan Bluebi

Honestly, it is a beautiful line, and it SCREAMS of M2.  Both stock and custom, and every model sporting that automotive purity (is that a term?) that M2 is so good at.  Sure, there will be calls of M2 just jumping into the JDM hype, but why is that a bad thing?  Cars are cars, and I will always welcome M2’s take on whatever they take on.  There is no doubt this release will mark a new take on 1/64 JDM, and you better believe I will be after the whole set, including those chases.  I am super excited.

  1. this is great, it is like US manufactured, kyosho, tomica lv quality, if you complain about more jdm cars, clearly you are just bitter, there is room in this hobby for all cars and all people.

    1. What’s that taste? I assume it is a jab at my MB Datsun posting. It isn’t about more Japanese cars. it is about the right ones to hold sales over many releases and years. And also doing a blend of models. M2 has plenty of volume sellers that allow them to now venture into this line. And they’ve done it with relatively mainstream models. This will give them sales. I will likely pick up the 240Z.

      Still think we need a Dodge Conquest CSI or Mitsubishi Starion GSR.

      1. I feel the Starion doesn’t really fit with the whole “super mainstream” thing…most people won’t know what the hell that car is. Gearheads will, but not the general public.

  2. It’ll be nice to see some high quality J-tin in the states but I can’t help but think they’re a couple years late to the game. I do notice the JNC inkan there, but curiously no Okamoto Safety Drive decals! 😉

  4. Bring on a Mitsubishi Starion – 1984 thru to 1989… Raced at the Bathurst 1000 in NSW Australia…
    These are nice and looking forward to the Datsun 1600 – Aussie style or (510 US style)…

  6. Anyone who feels like there’s no demand for Japanese imports in the diecast world obviously hasn’t tried to find them on the pegs, like the HW 510 for example. Even the station wagons get hoarded and scalped on ebay. Not much novelty anymore in another hotrodded American car.

  7. 1) I’m super happy that M2 is venturing away from American cars. I will probably get one of everything they’ll make.

    BUT…

    2) Anybody saying these will be like TLV from the US obviously never held the two brands side by side in hands… M2, while still being great, offer a very poor overall quality when opened.

    1. No kidding. M2’s poor quality doesn’t compare to TLV.

      As for these releases, I’ll save my money and focus on TLV instead.
