We’ve all known it is coming. M2 Machines finally gave us our first look at what will surely by one of the most anticipated releases of 2017:
Honestly, it is a beautiful line, and it SCREAMS of M2. Both stock and custom, and every model sporting that automotive purity (is that a term?) that M2 is so good at. Sure, there will be calls of M2 just jumping into the JDM hype, but why is that a bad thing? Cars are cars, and I will always welcome M2’s take on whatever they take on. There is no doubt this release will mark a new take on 1/64 JDM, and you better believe I will be after the whole set, including those chases. I am super excited.
this is great, it is like US manufactured, kyosho, tomica lv quality, if you complain about more jdm cars, clearly you are just bitter, there is room in this hobby for all cars and all people.
What’s that taste? I assume it is a jab at my MB Datsun posting. It isn’t about more Japanese cars. it is about the right ones to hold sales over many releases and years. And also doing a blend of models. M2 has plenty of volume sellers that allow them to now venture into this line. And they’ve done it with relatively mainstream models. This will give them sales. I will likely pick up the 240Z.
Still think we need a Dodge Conquest CSI or Mitsubishi Starion GSR.
I feel the Starion doesn’t really fit with the whole “super mainstream” thing…most people won’t know what the hell that car is. Gearheads will, but not the general public.
It’ll be nice to see some high quality J-tin in the states but I can’t help but think they’re a couple years late to the game. I do notice the JNC inkan there, but curiously no Okamoto Safety Drive decals! 😉
These look great…basically TLV at prices I can tolerate. I look forward to these.

I’ll wait to see if they are indeed Kyosho or TLV quality before commenting. But yeah I’ll buy them for sure.
Anyone who feels like there’s no demand for Japanese imports in the diecast world obviously hasn’t tried to find them on the pegs, like the HW 510 for example. Even the station wagons get hoarded and scalped on ebay. Not much novelty anymore in another hotrodded American car.
1) I’m super happy that M2 is venturing away from American cars. I will probably get one of everything they’ll make.
BUT…
2) Anybody saying these will be like TLV from the US obviously never held the two brands side by side in hands… M2, while still being great, offer a very poor overall quality when opened.
No kidding. M2’s poor quality doesn’t compare to TLV.
As for these releases, I’ll save my money and focus on TLV instead.
These pics sealed the deal. Just pre-ordered 2 sets of these and the Greenlight Tokyo Torque.
I welcome these, but a tad disappointed that the offerings aren’t a tad more original.
At this stage in my collecting I see the future being less muscle and more small import cars. I would love to see TRiumphs & MG’s included…..
