Alright I really do like the Hot Wheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS, especially this green version…

I reserve the right to change my opinion.  We all do.  If you are a collector there are plenty of models in your collection that didn’t grab your attention at first, until they did.  And there you are doing an eBay scramble to catch up on all the models you could have easily bought on the pegs a few months or years before.

Maybe those are models you ignored.  There are also models you actually disliked at first.  That is the case with the Hot Wheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS.  I wasn’t as keen as I thought I would be on the casting when it was released last year in red, but over time I started to warm up.

Then this green version was released, and wowzers, it’s fantastic.  Sure, things look a little too stocky on the rear side, but that is what has to happen with a metal spoiler.  One solution is to break things up with the black deco on the side of the spoiler, and it works well.  Of course tail light tampos would be the best solution, and maybe that will happen soon.  The other thing, and it is hard to explain why, is how much better all black rims look.  Just a tad sportier, lending itself to the overall design.

Maybe I am trying to get too specific.  The fact is I just like this casting a lot more now, and can appreciate how well it it made.  And I like liking models a lot more than not liking them, so…hooray.  I’m going to do it again, on some model in the future, so when I complain again, just roll your eyes and mention to yourself that I am just going to like it later.  Flip-flopper.

  1. Even one looks better when dressed up. This is what you are seeing here. An OK casting helped out by a nice outfit and makeup. The bright color helps. So does the deco. But if you look, the headlight openings are still not round and the lights don't sit flush but yet somehow look like bug eyes. The side vent is not crisp or well defined. The rear form some angles looks more like a Nissan 370Z. And the front and rear spoilers are too thick.

I will probably get one as I am somewhat of a completist. And I like this one better then the red.

  2. Looks way better than last year's red! Though the casting itself leaves a bit to be desired. The headlights shouldn't have been part of the window and the rear is too high (looks like a Panamera rather than a 911). Criticism aside, I will still collect this one and all future versions. That Birch green is beautiful!

  3. I will complain about castings but when you really get down to it for a dollar A DOLLAR car these look good. For one they are mass produced your going to jave imperfections..

  4. Bwahahaha you a “Flip-flopper”?!? Oh that a good one oh my sides….no you're just a “what ever is convenient/hot” person who see when stuff that once peg warmed builds traction you go for it and praise it in turn your eBay buddies who couldn't give it a way at first get the floods of buyers thanks to your BS!

  5. Having the vocabulary and grammar of a 5-year-old somehow takes all the wind out of your assaults. You do make me chuckle though, so for that I suppose you deserve some credit. Oh wait, no you don't.

  6. Looks especially good sitting in the Snake Motors garage, John —the lighting is cool. I really like the color of this version. Maybe a bright yellow or orange next time?

  7. Because it's the new generation of Porsche 911 and the model you linked to is the previous generation. The VERY subtle changes that happen to real 911s from one generation to the next means VERY subtle changes on the Hot Wheels version too. Since Mattel's relationship with Porsche is pretty strong, Mattel usually does a new casting for each new Porsche.

I understand your point though. The existing GT3 casting is SO much better than the new one. But variety is the spice of life, so no complaints here 🙂

  8. This is 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS model, before this they are 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. You can see the different from the engine hood, back body, side body and front body.
    This new version is awesome..
