We asked about the possible most valuable Hot Wheels Ferrari earlier this week, and afterwards a reader pointed another possible “most valuable” was up on eBay right now. And this one is definitely an interesting one.
Is the 2012 Hot Wheels Honda S2000 with RRex wheels the most valuable Super Treasure Hunt?
We might find out with one on eBay right now.
A little background. Super Treasure Hunt wheel variations don’t happen very often. In fact, I cannot think of any since Super Treasure Hunts were introduced in 2007. Except for the Honda S2000.
The standard wheels for the 2012 S2K Super were the “Real Rider GT” wheels. However, a small amount with “RRex” wheels (Real Rider Exotic Wheels) were found in Europe on short “Hot Wheels Racing” cards. From what I remember, almost all – and there were less than 10 documented – were found in Belgium and Germany.
Wheel variations can happen when the factory runs out of one wheel and uses another for a few minutes while the standard wheel supply is replenished. That could be the case here, but we will never know. All that has been verified is that a few showed up on short cards in Europe.
So that fact that there is a Super with a documented wheel variation is very interesting. But because it is the S2K, which has enjoyed a popularity surge in the last couple of years, it becomes more interesting. The S2000 is to Hot Wheels Designer Ryu Asada what the Datsun 510 Wagon is to Jun Imai. It is Ryu’s car, and was when he designed it for Hot Wheels while still working at Matchbox. With the surge of popularity in all things Japanese, the S2K has become a must have for a lot of collectors. And the Super heads that list. So add a variation to that, and you have a highly sought-after model.
The RRex S2000 rarely appears on eBay, but there is one there now, and considering it has already approached $250, this may be the most valuable Super. Of course some might argue it technically isn’t because it is a wheel variation, which is a fair point. Other might point to the Ferrari Enzo Super with different seats, which I think goes pretty high too. I guess we will see when this auction ends.

dang it! now you got me looking through my collection cause I forgot what wheels I had on mine. But more than likely its the Gt. But yeah this is one of my favorite castings and supers of that year. this supers was actually my first super I found, and I didnt know about super treasure hunts but knew something was special when I found it at an auto zone (yeah an auto zone, weird?)
When the red Ferrari 599XX treasure hunts were the thing, I found one in store that did not have a windshield. Another collector walked up immediately and offered me money on the spot for it. Since Ive never been a TH collector, I took his offer. To think what that must be worth now…

In a similar vein: I have the 1996 Lambo Countach TH with alternate & very rare PC5 wheels. Bought it brand-new myself for less than a buck in 1996. Doubt there's even an agreed-upon value range for these.

I have a “treasure hunt” from 1995 and its a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in white with orange stripes, I did my research and i saw 2 ebay listings at over $1400 and $2400 USD, then i find a AutomobileMag blog post about the most valuable Treasure hunts and i saw that the camaro is worth $1,500-$3,000!. Is this the true value and is this the “rarest and most valuable” treasure hunt?

Hey I own a wheel variation s2k with tampo error in the back end, I took it out the card as soon as i bought it which i almost never did as i thought it was an error for hot wheels to have rubber wheels haha i must had been 12 by then.
