15 Super Treasure Hunts in 15 Days: 02 ’09 Corvette ZR1…

With the last Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt of 2013 hitting the pegs, it is time look back at them all. Over the next 15 weekdays, the Lamley Group will showcase one Super each day, in order from first released to last…

If you missed it:

01 ’72 Gran Torino Sport

The second Super TH of 2013 was the first of two Corvette Supers, the second being the gorgeous ’62. Many of us wondered if we would see a third, with Corvette celebrating its 60th birthday this year.  Hopes were high that the Greenwood Corvette would take that honor, but alas, no luck.  In fact, the greatest flaw of the Dodge Demon Super, which was released at the same time as the Greenwood, is that it is not the Greenwood.  But we are getting ahead of ourselves.
Back to the ZR1.  I think this is the second time this generation of Corvette has been a Super, the first being the CR6 (which was in fact the first ever Super TH).  It is another fantastic Super, highlighted by wonderfully over-the-top wheels.  The Super GT rims look great in white.
And I mentioned in yesterday’s post on the Gran Torino that I have had some luck finding Supers this year.  The ZR1 was one of those.  Found right before Christmas at a rural Walmart I through occasionally while traveling for work.  This particular Walmart has been a lucky one for me, and this particular Super was hanging from nearly empty pegs.  The Christmas rush was on, but no parents saw the need to buy Junior a spectraflame Vette with crazy wheels for his stocking.  So I happily took it off of Walmart’s hands…

  1. What year was that CR6 Super released? Also it's amazing how finding a super on the pegs makes you wonder how they heck no one has bought it yet.. happened to me a few weeks ago, among, as you mentioned, nearly empty pegs, right at the front of the row a Super all by it's self. Well anyways, I enjoy following your blog! Thanks.
