Why do Matchbox insist on giving us Moving Parts in batches of 8? Then release a batch that can have 9. But, out of those 9, 8 of them were brand-new castings. What a high volume of new stuff to go through. I think that is a new record. Now, Wheel Collectors sent me over the batch to blog about, but as you will find out, they only had 8 of the models to send me. So the chase was on for the final one. But not the chase you would expect. If you click here, you will be taken to my Matchbox Monday page on their website, where all my blog reports sit. I hope you enjoy the latest read, and I hope you all had a fantastic New Year!

I’d like to see a better distribution of this range too. My local branch of The Entertainer got just one case of this batch. Just as the manager was about to put the models out, in walked a collector who bought the lot. They didn’t even hit the pegs! Yes, it was me, I happened to be in the right place at the right time but next time someone else could well beat me to it. And my box had the Land Rover (which would have been my preference anyway) but I’ve not seen this batch anywhere else so must have been distributed in very small quantities.
At the risk of telling you what you’ve already found, the bonnet on the Spitfire DOES open further; if you open it as far as your photo, then press down on the front, it opens almost to the vertical. Still doesn’t fit properly when it’s down, though, I’d like to think this can be sorted by a minor tweak to the tool before it’s next used.
I’m sure I’ve seen this mentioned elsewhere but there seems to be tow MB1462s; the Land Rover and the Porsche 911 Targa 4. presumably one will be re-numbered before they’re next issued.
Oh, and finally, I’m sure I’ve read that electric Minis are actually built in China. So, a “British” car, built by a German company in China. Curiouser and curiouser, but I suppose that’s this day and age…
Thank you for the tip on the Triumph. I did what you said, and hey, presto! It is not fully open. Wow! Such a difference. And now I have opened and closed it numerous times, it is becoming much easier to do. But, yes, the gap is still big. If you push the front, it does almost reach the rest. But, when you let go, it slides forward and reveals the gap again. I still think this might have been better with opening doors.
