Matchbox Monday jangles batch J in front of you

A batch of 9 models. Wait, there are 10 there. Yes, a certain straggler from the last batch finally got to my house, so I am including it here as well. As the year starts closing in, I am still amazed by all the fantastic castings and looks that are coming our way. I am starting to contemplate my Top 10s, and this year, they are really making it difficult for me. As normal, the batch was sent to me by Wheel Collectors, and I have put the article up on their site. If you click here, it will take you to my Matchbox Monday page. I hope you enjoy the latest read.

  1. I saw some power grabs of this batch in The Entertainer a few weeks ago, though someone had beaten me to the new castings. Since then they’ve gone backwards with more power grabs of the previous batch (H?) at £3.00 a shot. Standard range blisters still seem to be stuck on case B with many hang-overs from last year…Meanwhile I found the next batch (assume K) at a branch of Poundland in Birmingham though it’s not appeared at any of my local branches, assume because they’ve still got pegs groaning under the weight of older models. Hopefully the situation will improve if Christmas sales pick up

    1. Well, I visited the same branch of Poundland today, 9 days after my last visit. Last time there’d obviously been a new batch just put out; the pegs were overflowing. Today there was 6 models left, and one of those was a carry-over from a previous batch. So Matchbox CAN sell if they can provide a supply of new models rather than over-supply of thee same ones over and over..

  2. 2024 is really, really bad for me when it comes to Matchbox cars die-cast collecting. At this point, collecting is the opposite of what it should be, which should be pure fun but it’s not. I visit many shops and big malls with very little luck if any. I was able to buy 6 different Matchbox Basics in the entire year, same with Moving Parts – just 3 different models in total. Currently situation is bad, no updates since May or June 🙁
Matchbox barely exist at the shops, Hot Wheels on the other hand thrives abundantly everywhere you go… WTF ? Is this intentional or what 🙁

  3. My dream is Matchbox being sold by someone who will let it spread it’s wings, i keep my fingers for that. In proper owner hands Matchbox could spread it’s wings and we collectors would be happy, it’s a win-win for all of us. Another poor decision i despise is selling Matchbox in waves, it should be available all at once and then as the year progresses fill in the gaps.

  4. How about only publicise what you will actually get out into the shops? Doubly frustrating to know there are all these new items but never able to find them! They are distributed better in some other countries – why not the same here?
