New casting alert! RX7 (FD3S) LB-Super Silhouette, by Inno64

It is this time again, when I get new models to show to fellow Lamley writers from my favorite 1/64 brand. This time again, the new model is very Asian-like and on the tuning side. Doesn’t matter, a new model is always welcome.

It seems this new casting model is very well received among collectors. LB is really a thing among a lot of collectors in Asia and in USA. I believe it is a little less hot in Europe, but I know there is a hard core of collectors interested in it. So, let me present you the three versions I have in hand with a chase model.

The kit is based on a Mazda RX-7 FD3S and is composed of this :

Front Bumper / Bumper Fog Covers / Front Fenders / Side Skirts w/ Panels / Rear Fenders Rear Bumper / Rear Wing / Rear Gate / Bonnet Hood /Head Light Covers /Rear Diffuse

for the amount of 25k$.

Inno64 sent me three models : white, black and what is supposed to be the green model Vaillant inspired, as a chase zamac model. The particular version comes in a premium box as you know them now. The paint schemes seem to pay homage to vintage Porsche 935 race cars, with a Vaillant deco or a Numéro Réservé in white. For the black Coca Cola, I don’t know and strangely this one has my preference. There is also another version I don’t have yet in a Mazda 787b homage livery in orange and green, with a chase version too.

So, what about the execution of the models ? Well, once again we must admit that Inno64 is still able to make beautiful and detailed model cars. Whether it’s your cup of tea or not, the execution must be admired. The car is low as it can be, has a metal base and is an almost good roller (depends on the model and how the tires are put on the wheels). That’s a very big effort to manage to have such a low car and a roller at the same time. You can find it on eBay easily.

Regarding the details, I don’t know the car enough to be 100% affirmative, but it seems to be very near of the real one. I like the black Coca-Cola version because of the contrast of the white base and the black paint. Red seats shine well too. I think the wheels on this model could have been a bit more detailed. On the white version, you can spot a nice yellow roll cage. The chase is treated in zamac and I really like the details of the front wheels. Front radiator grills are also very well done.

All in all, Inno64 has certainly a huge potential with the FD3S Super Silhouette with a lot of versions issued at the same time. A good sale for the brand, including chases models. I know how to appreciate it, but I would like the brand brings more European stuff.
