60 years of success: Majorette celebrates 2024 in style

(Browse the Majorette 60th Anniversary offerings on Ebay)

Unless you’ve had your eyes closed recently you’ll have realised Majorette turns 60 this year. 2024 is a huge year for the company and they’re pulling out all the stops to celebrate. Take a quick look at some of the bits on offer:

There’s new castings, new wheels (finally!), new liveries and some amazing diecasts on offer. And I’m going to be looking deeper at some of my favourites over the next few weeks and months here at Lamley. I cannot do the Citroën HY and DS a decent service in just a few words, they definitely require a deep dive. I mean just look at them. Incredible.

I’ll also be writing up a very special article after my visit to Majorette HQ in Fürth, Germany in early April which will involve more of the brilliant new “Racing Car” casting.

Diecast historians will know this is a new version of the first ever Majorette car: the BRM P57. This was back when the Majorette name was a line of cars offered by the railway modelling company Rail Route. I’ve covered Rail Route history before in a piece about my Majorette Peugeot 404 wagon and I’m really looking forward to immersing myself even more in that proud history over the coming months. 1. Hello Alex. Thanks for the Majorette update. I have about 50 or so of that brand in my huge collection of many different toy brands. I don’t know much about Majorette’s history. The oldest one I have is the Mercedes Animal Carrier. Yellow cab, brown cattle hold, still in blister pack. maybe early 1980s? Anyway, I want that BRM race car in all colors! Hopefully it will be available in the States.

  2. The history of toy cars is amazing to me after a 40 year career in auto retail.
It is mind blowing to be learning about the ups and downs of manufacturing and marketing toy vehicles from all over the world. The numbers of product produced is stunning.
    Thank you.

  3. Some 60th Majorettes have appeared in larger Sainsbury’s supermarkets here in the UK. Haven’t seen much of Majorette anywhere else here. Hope distribution gets wider for these great items!
