The NSX is one of Honda most successful concept car way back into 1984 when they collaborated with Pininfarina to create the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina eXperimental) concept. The concept evolved into the NS-X, which stood for “New”, “Sportscar” “eXperimental”. Honda’s own motorsport division also involved Aryton Senna for initial testing at the Suzuka circuit.
The result, a revolutionary NSX that was unveiled in 1989 with the intent to be a world-class sports car which is so today. Tomica is always the first mini car maker back then to release the Red Box NSX in 1991 been a prominent player in domestic Japan. Although basic it took collectors by storm and it’s still a highly desirable casting.
Today every mini car makers have NSX in their lineup and Ignition Model sits among the premium category to replicate one of the most accurate NSX. Well known for their craftsmanship, the NSX is perfectly replicated that justifies their retail price point. The 1/64 casting looks iconic with flawless paint work, intricate details, realistic wheels and rear lights with the exception to roll typical of a model car in this category.
Given past experiences, there will be many color variants released which are impossible for me to catch up due to its price. But I’m very happy to have especially the NSX in white as its Honda very iconic brand color along with the metallic orange which is my personal favourite.
This pair will be a very good comparison with when Tomica Limited Vintage Neo debut their very own NSX in February 2021. Today the NSX still remains a popular and desirable casting in the history of sports cars. Enjoy the gallery below 🙂
