Check out this grainy pic of the πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ coming from Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels Designer Steve Vandervate, affectionately known as HWVan among the nerds, is in Malaysia for the Art of Speed Convention, and he brought a few goodies with him.

Van does the graphics for premium lines like Car Culture, Pop Culture, Entertainment, etc, and he is displaying some of his upcoming work there while he signs autographs. There are some really cool details about these that will come out soon enough, but for now you can do your Zapruder Film-like analysis:

  1. Yes the Toyota supra is back.πŸ‘And wow all of those new hotwheels coming out are all awesome. πŸ‘I will be on the hunt for all of those and I can’t wait to add all of those to my hotwheels collection. πŸ‘

  2. Oh my, that vintage racecar Car Culture mix looks tasty…

Not feelin’ the mix above it, but the Team Transport items look interesting, even though I can’t tell exactly what they are

  3. Is the bottom row an upcoming Car Culture wave and the top row, maybe a basic retailer exclusive, Walmart perhaps? I’d guess another non-premium Fast and Furious wave, except I wouldn’t expect a VW Bug and Nissan Hardbody in that line. Perhaps. Not a F&F fan, so I couldn’t say for sure.

Anyway, that bottom row looks interesting. BMW 2002, Ford Escort RS 1600, ’71 Porsche 911 (Urban Outlaw), Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA and BMW M3. I’m most excited for the 2002. I never did find the Replica Entertainment Forza set. My favorite would have easily been the 911, but since this looks to be an exact duplicate of the basic release, just with premium upgrades, it feels a bit less special and a wasted opportunity. My least favorite of the bunch would be the Escort. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a fan of the casting, but with the Castrol and Gumball basics and Fast & Furious premium, I feel I’ve got my bases covered with that one. The Giulia is another great casting that I’m a fan of. I would have been all over a solid red with racing stickers version, but I can’t say I care much for the yellow nose. I’ll have to wait to see it in person (or at least in better pics). Finally the M3, another great casting that never quite seems to be given its justice. Nowadays Car Culture gives us full front, back and sides deco, so I’m excited to see this one more closely. From the grainy photo it looks to be green and red over white. Could this be a Castol livery?

    1. I just realized the top row of cards are overlapping and that’s why they looked to me like the narrower basic retailer exclusive cards. Now I see they are in fact premium Car Culture.
