Opening Hot Wheels Car Culture Shop Trucks

Car Culture is at the point that every release has incredibly high expectations.  That is a blessing and curse to be sure, but thankfully it has been far more blessing than curse.

Shop Trucks is the third mix released in 2018 (outside of Team Transport), and my guess is this will be a popular one.  Japan Historics 2 was a predictable hit, but Eurospeed appears to be one of the first “meh” releases for collectors.  Happily, it is still selling.  Shop Trucks is back to stellar.

A friend of mine (@coletricklediecast on IG) found a set at Target and handed it to me to showcase, so that is what I am doing.  Julian Koiles card art is fantastic as always, but I still enjoy ripping these open.  So that is what I did.

And in case you missed it, the preview I did with Jimmy Liu at Hot Wheels back in April at HW Nationals in Dallas:

  1. In my opinion Cargo Carriers is the weakest set of 2018 to date, and this set isn’t to far ahead. All the trucks are nice, but none of them are special. Saving my money for Circuit Racers and Drag Demons.

    1. Cargo carriers are great bruh! The only pegwarmer is ford gulf. New debuts Skyline wagon and odc are the stars. And sunagon also hits the spot. Maybe muscles and hot rods are more your cup of tea, wait for other batch then…

  2. Awesome car culture shop trucks you open up and reviewed congrats.👍 They’re all my favorites.👍 I will be on the hunt for all 5 of those.👍

  3. The ’62 and ’83 are easily the two best release of Car Culture so far this year. Sure, the gassers will top this set, but the Euro and JDM stuff don’t hold a candle to this release.

  4. Just messing with you john but shop trucks is the forth mix of 2018 not the third, bud. Great article though.
