Case Report: 2017 Hot Wheels International L Case

So the K Case was a bit of a dud.  It happens.  And it usually means the next case will be better.  The 2017 L Case definitely is just that.

Wheel Collectors received their L Case shipment yesterday, and as usual, they picked a case at random to open for us, 3-by-3.  All the models are now listed:

Have a look, and as can happen occasionally, we get to play another round of “FIND THE ERROR”:

Did you spot the error?  I will let you guys find it.

Other highlights.  The yellow Chevelle serves as the Super.  While there wasn’t one in this case, one was pulled from another:

The Regular TH is the Arrow Dynamic, but the highlights for most will be the sports cars. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT makes its debut, and the Ford GT Race and Renault R.S. 01 return in new colors.  Good case.  An even better case is coming.

  1. Nice to have Merc back and done properly – none of those stupid STUPID large rear wheels – the various camaro’s for the 50th, nice, renault and Ford good – generics YUK YUK YUK

  2. Oh holly eff that’s the one. The good-ol’ (it’s from 2015) AMG-GT, or as I like to call it, the SCS AMG, now in the Hot Wheels stable. Full tampos. Perfect proportions. The only casting that can beat it (and the Ford GT GTE car, for that matter) is the Pagani Huayra Roadster, although if Hot Wheels’ car matches or beats the Majorette, it’s verdict enough.

That’s pretty much my Top 3 Mainline, along with the 934.5, and this commentariat be damned if not one of the four make it to the Top 3 of the year outright.

  3. The headlamps on the AMG GT look too large. Hopefully the model looks better in person ,,, was really looking forward to this one.

  4. Since I don`t collect Majorettes I will gladly put this AMG GT in my collection. Nice color, also has side mirrors, which is very nice. The Ford GT Race is not as good looking as the previous blue model in my opinion but I will also hunt for it, because I’m a huge Ford GT fan.

  5. Not a lot of tremendously exciting stuff. I little too much fantasy. Some of the recolors are really cool though. The Fangula and the Bone Speeder. Also that Mercedes looks kinda sharp.

  6. Actually like the reg TH really done well no tacky tempo clean. Noe that Benz not sold on the color, one recolor I’ll look forward to. I will Definately look for this!

  7. I am seriously pumped for the Mercedes…the perfect color for the debut too.

This looks like a great case…I think I like the recolor of the Ford GT race car better than the debut. The Chevy pickup looks great on steelies (though it’s a shame there’s no surf board) and the various Camaros all look good as well.

The NSX…that deco is VERY similar to the one on the Camaro from a few cases ago. I thought I was looking at a “Then and Now” car at first, until I remembered where I had seen it.

  8. Love THE HAULINATOR recolor and THE EMBOSSER (looks like a backslider). The GT Race is a gorgeous recolor, white recolor of Camaro SS, although the metalflake silver is better. The Merc of course, 81 Camaro, Special Edition Orange Camaro very nice.

  9. Not an awesome case. Way to many non-licensed models and too few “real” cars to get excited about.

The Mercedes-AMG GT is the star of the case for me, followed by the recolor of the Ford GT. Looks fantastic in white, though I think I still prefer the debut blue. As others have said, yellow was the perfect debut color for the AMG. Hot on the heels of the debut and recolor of the two GTs, we have the debut and recolor of two Chevys, the Camaro ZL1 and Corvette Z06. I love ’em both! OK, maybe those two technically came out in case ‘K’, but with distribution how it is lately, I may see case ‘L’ first. My final picks for this case are the Acura NSX and HW Race livery Nissan 180SX. This may be a stretch, but could it be the black/gold paint scheme on the NSX is an homage to a similar real life gold on black special edition of the first generation Integra?
