Hot Wheels 2016 Retro Entertainment Batch A

Just a quick heads up that the first batch of Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment for 2016 has been released, and it is now out at Wheel Collectors:

Hot Wheels 2016 Retro Entertainment Batch A

This is an interesting batch.  For long time collectors it is probably a bit of a disappointment, considering almost all, outside of maybe a slight difference here and there, are essentially reissues of previous models.  My only thought on why they did it this way is to give others a shot at some of the models that are now hard to acquire, the Ecto-1 being at the top of the list.  It could also be a licensing thing, or laziness.  Who knows, but it is obvious some of them will be popular.

We can at least say the Ecto-1 is affordable again, and that is a good thing.

We will wait and see what Batch B is all about…

  1. I hope I can find that Ecto-1 just so I can open it.

I open most of my Entertainment cars, but I managed to snag that Ecto-1 the first time around (I must have gotten to the Toys R' Us shortly after they pegged that case) but I never opened it and, checking what it goes for on eBay now, I'm keeping it that way.

  2. “that Ecto-1” (the second time I said it), I mean the original Retro Entertainment release from 2013 (or was it late 2012? I didn't see them in Ottawa until early 2013 but we frequently get Entertainment cars late if we get them at all, although the most recent two waves got to stores here very quickly for some reason).

  3. Huh, I had no idea those Ectos were rare. I stumbled upon 2 at a supermarket back when I started collecting and left 1. Had I known they'd be so rare, I would've bought the other one.
