New Skylines from Tomica Limited Vintage: The 1977 Skyline Japan is out, the R34 is coming…

Everyone loves a Skyline.  Well everyone loves a Skyline as long as it fits their expectations.  Most like their Skylines with the letters “G” “T”, and “R” attached.  They like theirs in a racing deco, or something related.  I like mine that way too.

But I also LOVE them stock.  It is so fun to see what the Skyline was before it became such a staple of the car scene these days.  And that is why we collectors who like that sort of thing love Tomica Limited Vintage.

And that is why we are very excited about what is coming from TLV, this month and in the future.

It starts with what is part of the October batch, which was just listed by Japan Booster.  Among the brand new Nissan Prarie and a couple of awesome trucks are three versions of a brand new casting, the Nissan Skyline 2000GT, also known as the Skyline Japan.

You don’t see the Japan Skyline in diecast form as much as you do the Kenmeri and Hakosuka, for example, but it is a worthy choice, especially in TLV stock.  We will spend more time on the model once we get it (check out those awesome wheels!), but for now you can see it and buy one or all three at Japan Booster:

The rest of the October Batch, including the brand new Prairie:

But that is not all.  With the collecting landscape the way it is currently, an R34 Skyline will always make waves.  But this is Tomica Limited Vintage, and they always like to do things their way.

I say R34 Skyline, and I would guess that most of the time collectors will visualize the Nismo GT-R.  It is a signature Skyline, and has been duplicated in miniature numerous times.  Considering that, it seems odd that Tomica Limited Vintage would do something that has already been done so many times.

That is unless they do the sedan version.

And that is exactly what they are doing.

I have no idea how many times the R34 Sedan has been done, but my guess is not very often, if at all.  This is exactly why I love TLV.  This model may not appeal to everyone, but for those of us who like these versions, the Sedan is a perfect choice.  It should be out in early 2016.
But if the letters “GTR” are your thing, Tomica Limited Vintage has that covered too.  Following the immensely popular Nismo and N-Attack versions of the R35 GT-R, 2016 will see a few more versions.  The Premium in blue and gold, as well as a very cool emergency version from the new Abunai Deka television series.

When these three are released in February 2016, that will make at least 9 versions of the GT-R, which is a fantastic and very good-looking group.  I need another display…
Look for all at Japan Booster next year…

  1. That red GT-R is from the movie 'Saraba Abunai Deka', to be out in 2016. In addition to the red GT-R they will also introduce the Nissan Leopard for both this line and the TLV Neo line with both the normal and sun roof variants.

That Skyline sedan is the ER34 and you're right, there has been so far, no diecast replica of the car.

Also, don't forget the TLV-N Skyline 2000 Turbo GT-ES will also be coming in November.

  2. Hi there, enjoyed reading your post. The R34 Sedan is also known as the 25GT – i used to see the advertisements in the newspapers and see the cars on the road when I was a kid.

Kyosho made a replica of this 25GT as part of their Skyline minicar collection series some years ago. I have been hoping TLV would make one for years now. Can't wait to get these!
