2014 Lamley Awards: What was the 2014 Hot Wheels Model of the Year?

The Lamley Awards voting continues with the vote for 2014 Hot Wheels Model of the Year.

What do we mean by Model of the Year?  Well, to be honest, it is the most subjective of any of the Lamley Awards categories.  It could mean Best, it could mean Most Popular, it could mean Most Hype, Most Buzz, Best Looking, whatever.  Maybe you could call the Model of the Year “The Most Significant”.

This is also the only category where we at Lamley pick nominees.  With the help of some “in-the-know” collectors (HWC’s doomus being one of them), we selected the 15 models that seemed to generate the most discussion.  It doesn’t necessarily mean we liked them, but many collectors out there did.

So, check our nominations below, and look to your right to vote what model you think deserves the award.  Or just follow this link:

  1. I voted for the Datsun for the simple reason that its a Datsun 510 and its a Wagon. Being very, very good looking and nicely executed casting and being a Super hunt are just a bonus. I'm a bit of a JDM fan so anything Japanese from the 70s, 80s and 90s is going to catch my eye. I recently traded a 2011 10-pack exclusive Carrera GT for a 2010 Night Burnerz Datsun 510. (keep in mind that I'm a very hardcore supercar nut, if thats saying something). So yeah, my favourite is the 510 Wagon. The way it sits, the wheels fitting flush in the wheel wells, the spectra-red paint, the livery, everything just looks great! A close second place would be the Porsche 934 just because its a Porsche and it looks stellar in orange, with the Civic EF following in third, again a classic JDM hatch from the 90's.

  2. Datun 510 FTW!! I love it, but has anyone gotten the BRE Datsun 240Z that also came out this year? If it were on the list, I'd probably vote for that…honorable mention? xD
