First Look: Hot Wheels Hot Ones 1985 Honda CR-X…

After a few dry weeks of new stuff, we are excited to jump back in with a deluge of First Looks, thanks to our friends at Wheel Collectors who are providing us with all the latest Hot Wheels models.  Look for a run of First Looks, starting tonight with a model we have been very excited about getting our paws on – the brand new HW CR-X.

If it has not become clear, we are a little Japanese-car-crazy here.  There are rarely models that we anticipate more than the newest Nissans, Datsuns, Toyotas, Hondas, etc.  So when we heard that Hot Wheels was tackling an emerging classic, the CR-X, we could not have been more excited.

We finally have it, and I have to say I am more than pleased.  Is it stock?  No.  Is it cool?  Uh-huh.  And it gets a little cooler to know that it was designed by Mattel’s resident Honda expert, Ryu Asada, who works mainly over at Matchbox but who is also responsible for the fantastic Hot Wheels custom Honda S2000, which got the Super Treasure Hunt treatment this year.

If you want to get an idea of Ryu’s inspiration behind this mid-engine Honda, just hop over to the Japanese Nostalgic Car blog for an idea.  It does give you a better sense of what you are looking at.

If you want to get your hands on this one, be sure to jump over to Wheel Collectors, where this and many more models are available well before they hit the big box stores.  And remember to mention the Lamley Group upon checkout to get 10% off your entire order.

And as always, be sure to Like us on Facebook (you can even win a VW Micro Bus).  There are many First Looks to come, so be the first to know when more pop up in the coming days…
