Matchbox Leipzig 2025 Auction A

It’s that time of the year again. After the Albuquerque USA convention in July, we get the Leipzig convention in Germany, running alongside the Modell-Hobby-Spiel event. As has been the scenario for a number of years now, Dirk Schleuer, who runs the European convention, has a lot of auction items available to those who are going, but for those who don’t, he doesn’t ignore you. What he does is a 3-auction set-up. Auction A will run from Saturday 14th September at 2pm Berlin time (this is GMT +2), and will conclude on Saturday 21st at 2pm (Berlin time). Please remember to ensure you know the difference between your time zone and GMT+2.

These are the dates and times in German and English for those who are interested. As is the routine, Auction A is open to the world. All you have to do is submit your bids by email to Dirk. Auction B is just for those in attendance. When the convention finishes, Auction C will begin, and run another week coming out of the event. Check back next week, as I will be posting Auction C items then, for those who may be interested.

This is the guideline for the auctions. As Dirk says, he will send out daily emails to those participating. The first person who bids a certain amount is the high bidder. If he receives an email from somebody else with the same bid amount (in euros, please remember that, it’s in Germany), they will be informed that this is the high bid, but it is not them. It has worked in the past, so why change it. So, let’s get on with the lots. Note, pictures can be clicked to open in a larger size (if desired).

Lot A01 is a 2010 FEP MB749 Chevy Corvette ZR1 sealed on a long blister. It has the FEP codes printed on the hood of the model.

Lot A02 is an early 3D print of the MB976 Ghe-O Rescue from before it entered into production.

Lot A03 is a very unique model. This is a 3D print of a Mercedes-Benz that Matchbox were starting to create, but ended up cancelling. This is about as far as things got with this. It never even received a MAN number.

Lot A04 is a pre-production prototype mocked up sample of the MB894 Turn Tamer from before it started production. It has an incomplete base and comes in a colour that was never issued.

Lot A05 is a pre-production sample of the MB1010 Dirtstroyer in all blue from before it entered production. Again, the base is incomplete.

Lot A06 is a pre-production sample of the MB1015 Hydro Cruiser in red and blue, complete with a clear “water” base. It has unspun rivets (hence the elastic band holding it together). Both model and “water” pieces are colours never used.

Lot A07 is an early unpainted sample of the MB1532 ’23 Toyota Century with pink interior and blank orange base.

Lot A08 is a pre-production sample of the MB1509 ’23 Dodge Charger Pursuit in grey with blue interior and base. Again, this model is unriveted (and incomplete), so has an elastic band holding it together.

Lot A09 is an early pre-production sample of the MB1021 ’15 Ram 1500 Police in all blue. Again with an incomplete base.

Lot A10 is a unique 1 of 25 sample of the new MB1479 ’23 Porsche 911 Dakar. Please note, there is an error with the base, as the last 2 numbers were transposed, and it says MB1497. But that is the new BMW 7-series in the basic range. The 911 is actually MB1479. All 911s have the roof with items, but just 25 will have an additional no-item roof piece, imprinted with Leipzig 2025 Spendenmodell. Spendenmodell translates into charity model in English. The roof parts are removable, so you can display it with items or with the charity print.

So, this is it for Auction A. 10 lots. Good luck with bidding. The auction begins Saturday 27th at 2pm (GMT +2), whatever that translates into your time zone, and runs for 1 week, with lots closing at 2pm (GMT +2) on the Saturday (4th) of the convention.
