Following last year’s release of the sixth generation Civic Si coupe, which turned out to be rather popular, PARA64 is bringing another Honda to the proverbial diecast party. The EJ1 is the coupe version of the fifth generation Civic, on sale in the US between 1992 and 1995. It was a staple on US roads in period, but attrition over the last decade or so has reduced its numbers significantly. In fact, seeing one on the road now is a celebrated event.
I have fond memories from high school of being driven to work in a Torino red sedan. This was back in 2000 and a similar 1992 example with only 24k miles sold on Bring a Trailer in July of 2023 for $15k! Nuts, right? Anyway, Torino red wasn’t available in the coupe, but there a handful of great 90s hues to choose from.
PARA64’s tooling sample is shown here in pre-pro form sans paint, obviously. The larger panel gaps allow for proper paint application and it will be cleaned up a bit prior to its final incarnation.

The Coupe can be a great base for various trims, those of which will be announced at a later date. Seeing the sunroof here leads me to believe it’s going to start as an EX for the US market, but it’s also shown as RHD so who knows.

Pertinent details like what color it’s going to be, or what side the steering wheel will be on will be flushed out at a later time. For now, just enjoy the fact that this exists and you’ll be able to have a finished product in your collection hopefully by the end of 2024. I know if it’s anything like the Si, it will find a place on my Top 10.

Thanks again to Adrian of PARA64 for sending these images over.
