New Toyota Corona EXiV Touring Car collectors box set : end of the game (Inno64).

I’m in. That’s it. I have it. I have no fear to write that this is the best collectors set so far. I have no fear at all. Seriously, how this set can be beaten ? Some will say it’s twice the same car. Yes it is, but the deco is different, two drivers and an Exiv Zent sponsor on one hand and Esso Tonen on the other. And actually, this is the essence of those collectors sets. You bring a piece of racing history in your collection. Who else than Inno64 would be able to produce such cars in the diecast landscape ? Tarmac ? Maybe. Tomica Limited Vintage ? Maybe not, but they surely would have the best street stock Exiv on the market. Mini GT ? I don’t think so. I have said it a lot, but those collectors sets are great, not to say genius. The packaging is super qualitative and you can still display your cars coming from the set the way you usually do it. As a collector, packaging and CONSISTENCY in it is a key.

The Toyota Corona Exiv has already been issued 5 times before, starting with two classic Japanese racing version (STP Advan and Zippo), then a Macau special and another box set Nippon Denso duo. 7 iterations of the Exiv is a blast. But this time, I do think the versions chosen are just perfect. Perfect for an era I love so much, an era of Touring Cars, and era of big sedans racing on tracks. An era of already very highly modified cars, but still looking at the classic sedan you could buy on Monday morning. An era of very low stance and exaggerated cambered wheels. An era of sponsors like Esso, BP, Ultron, Kaliber …

I am very nostalgic of this era, and I particularly like this Exiv duo because it reminds me the very beginning of the brand. I was absolutely crazy with the Honda Accord touring car and the Civic Ferio of several years ago. I like continuity in a collection, even if it takes time to add models, pieces by pieces. It is even better when a collection is growing slowly and when “you know” where you’re going with it. It’s the case here, and it really makes me happy. You can find the set on eBay easily around 40$.

Look at this duo. Isn’t something ?

Of course the cast is good, the stance is good, the wheels are not cambered enough but what can you do with a 1/64 diecast model car around 20$. The result is already very satisfying. The car almost rolls, for information but must have some help. The display base matches the car very well, good point on that for Inno.

All in all, you can clearly see that I am very seized with emotion with this cast. Actually, it can be one of my top 5 favorite models from the brand.

This could be my top 5 from the brand so far

See you soon for more Inno64 reviews!
