Any Bruce Lee fans here ? The new Inno64 set in collaboration with Tiny HK is all about the yellow leather Chinese-American man, master of the martial arts. I personally don’t know much about Bruce Lee. I would say it’s not much my generation, and my cup of tea but I’m sure this set will please many fans, wherever they are.
This new collaboration with Tiny HK is the latest collaboration, after the Shell and Coca-Cola collection. Inno64 seems to take advantage of Tiny licences. To say the least, I am pretty surprised to see this collection but it is definitely a way for Inno64 to produce and sell more GT-R cars. I think I must look at it with an execution eye, not a personal taste eye.
The set is paying hommage to the martial art master that died in Hong Kong and I must admit that the efforts done with packaging boxes are great. Each car comes in a little box all decorated with a different drawing matching the color and the decals of the cars. Each car also gets a famous citation of Bruce Lee, such as “Be water my friend”, “Using no way as way; having no limitation as limitation”, “Don’t think, feel!” and “As you think, so shall you become”. It’s a little kitsch, but fun.
My favorite of the 4 is the R32, I love it with the bronze wheels. The R31 is also very clean. The R34 is a bit more discreet while the R33 in yellow as a thick paint, I think. Each car gets a very nice tampo on the engine hood. Once again, I have to admit that the execution is really good. Models have no particular issues, it’s a great homage to Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee fans and cinema. If it’s your cup of tea, don’t hesitate. If it’s not, just let it go, and focus on other releases.
