The new Walmart-exclusive Hot Wheels Star Wars set is hitting

Just a heads up for Hot Wheels Star Wars fans, or fans of cool Hot Wheels artwork.  The new Star Wars set is out, exclusively at Walmart.

I can across the set at a nearby Walmart, and actually bought one model.  All the models are unlicensed, as has been the case lately with sets like these, but the art is fantastic.  And with one of my favorite unlicensed models sporting my favorite Star Wars character, I left with one.  I think you can figure it out.

Here are the models:

  1. The Boba Fett Mad Manga will be hard to find. Otherwise, I really don’t care much for the Make Believe cars.

And that is the one I think you bought

  2. Hey… More peg warmers. Walmarts in my area still have some of the planet-themed ones from 18+ (?) months ago sitting with shredded cards on the pegs and bins.

Not that there isn’t a market for these- but nowhere near the amount they produce.

  3. YAWN! Stores that order the Star Wars cars have to sit on them for months before they finally sell enough to get another exclusive set (unlike the Fast and Furious, Porsche, Camaro, Mustang, etc). My local Wal Mart finally put the previous Star Wars set on clearance for 10 cents apiece and it still took a few weeks to get rid of them.

  4. This isn’t really related, but I noticed a new Batman set in the classic huge dump bin at my local Walmart the other day (what is this, the millionth “different” Batman set?) that was full of the typical Batmobiles and Tumblers, but one of the cars in the set is a neat dark matte grey Lamborghini Murcielago. The Murci isn’t the best casting, but the simple deco is pretty cool. Just a heads-up for anyone interested in that model

    1. Yes. I stumbled across that set filling dump bins last weekend. I had no idea these were coming. I do collect some Batman, so I went ahead and picked up an entire set plus a second of the Murcielago. I agree, the Lambo looks great in this matte steel gray.

  5. The only good thing I can see about this is when the Star Wars warmers get low in the bin.. then they’ll load it
up with mainlines and then I can search for Supers!
    Other than that .. NAAAAAHHHHHHH!

  6. Usual load of shit that nobody wants. I’m not a Star Wars fan but do these “cars” have anything to do with Star Wars in any universe whatsoever ? Mattel need to divert their attention to their poor distribution outside of the US, and also stop wasting their time on generics. There are a lot of serious model collectors out there with money to spend including me, my money will be spent at the toy fairs and on Auto World and Greenlights instead of giving it to Mattel.

  7. I am a huge fan of Star Wars and think the card art on these is great. The cars however, leave a lot to be desired. The cards themselves are not a big enough draw to get me to bite.
