The new Hot Wheels Exotics 5-pack is coming.

Lamley Reader Thomas Truong shared this pic with me today:

It is the new HW Exotics 5-pack and it looks pretty good.  Pagani Huayra, Aston Martin DBS (I think), Lamborghini Huracan, Porsche Carrera GT, and Lamborghini Aventador J.  It is definitely a good-looking pack, and one I will most surely pick up.

Looks like it will hit soon.

  1. A Hot Wheels Exotic 5 pack is truly not exotic unless there's a Ferrari.
Another repeat of the Aventador J and Pagani. I can think of some Supercars to make the list for sure.
The DBS looks different as well the Porsche. Like the Huracan though.
Need to see up close to appreciate but wish I knew the real color of the Huayra.

  2. It's a nice pack, but, come on, Mattel, Huayra and Aventador J again?! At least the Carrera GT seems nice in blue. They should make and Vintage Exotic 5-Pack with 90's or earlier models and castings. there are models that don't come on mainline or even on packs for several years.

  3. I ALWAYS pick up the exotics 5-pack when they come out…they always have good castings with restrained decos. As others have mentioned, it'd be nice if they'd stick some castings in that haven't already been featured in past exotics 5-packs, but hey, can't argue with how good these look.

  4. You make the same comment every single time! It is getting tiring. To a lot of people there are a lot of HW fantasy cars that are “junk” to them. No one needs to explain to you why it's junk. And if these “junk” cars are so terrific then why don't YOU explain why there are so many of them left on the pegs. Who are you? The guy at HW that is tasked with designing generics? Calm down.

  5. Yeah.. Maisto/Bburago [1/64] Ferrari castings are, let's just say, OK, but the wheels are terrible!
I guess if I do purchase one i'll have to reserve some wheels for it from a HW's vehicle.
A Mattel Hot Wheels Ferrari will always be the better choice no matter what compared to a Maisto/Bburago Ferrari!!!!

  6. Vintage Exotic! Yes.. why not? I think Mattel needs to hear the consumer point of view because I know there are those who would appreciate such a collection.

  7. I disagree. Not all generics are junk: Bone Shaker, Dairy Delivery, Time Attaxi, Rescue Ranger, Twin Mill, Combat Medic, Bruiser Cruiser, Hiway Hauler, Bread Box, Surf Crate etc, etc, etc. I must continue?
    Please be RESPECTFUL, thanks.

  8. Huayra again? That's ridiculous. There was white one, golden one and now 3rd time in a row… Almost the same with Aventador J, fortunately this seem to be a better one. That Porsche was in 5pack Exotic like 10 years ago so we can count it as a repeat also. Why? There are so many fine models…

  9. It's always the same cars in the exotics 5 pack! Repeat of the Huarya and Aventador. I would like to see cars that are'nt on the basics line already or did'nt be released 1 or 2 years before.

Exemple of Cars that should be considered for a futur exotic 5 pack :

    – Koenigsegg Agera R
    – Maserati MC12
    – Lamborghini Murciélago LP-670-4 SV
    – Vector WX-3 or w8
    – Mclaren F1 LM
    – Engenering Edonis
    – Ford GT 2017
    – Lotus Exige S

Also, it can be a great opportunity for HW to release new castings (how about a Pagani Zonda? A Lamborghini Diablo SV? Bugatti Chiron? Lexus LFA? Koenigsegg CCX , Regera or One 1? Hennessey Venom GT? Aston Martin Vanquish? 2018 AUdi R8? and more?

  10. Listen there are multiple reasons why these are two were mentioned. Generics and peg warmers but the biggest reason is your right DD snd Shaker are absolute gems. Why they are hot wheels also the plastic is just cheap looking.
If you like them great itwas my opinion on the junk next to real hot wheels. Listen I believe at one time the powers at MBX evesdropped on here and it led to a reemergence of a very historical diecast brand. So if by chance someone at HWs is listening maybe I'm heard.

  11. 100% right Carlos Font Segura and thank you John Nilsson for telling me. Me i just call it stuff i don't want i dont think HW has any junk i just cant buy ever car. Maisto that's junk

  12. I'd kill to have a Lexus LFA or a Hennessey Venom GT and even a Zonda, but there must be some bonehead in charge who likes to use redundant selections over and over and over. The Aventador J? Come on now!

There are more popular and awesome creations waiting to become HW's reality – Mattel needs to conduct a poll like they do over in the HW' Club – provide an extensive list of cars of each 'genre', for example.. Supercars, Musclecars, JDM, because you have to give the people what they want.

  13. There is nothing in here that is enough of a draw to make me pick this up. The Porsche Carrera GT looks nice, but everything else is fairly meh. OK, maybe the copper Pagani is nice too. If I didn't already own other versions of all of these, then maybe I would pick up this set. For whatever reason, the cars in these 5-packs always seem a bit less impressive than their single-pack counterparts. I'm not sure if it is color choice, the deco or both. I honestly have no desire to own a purple Aston Martin DBS.

  14. This is the third year in a row that the Huayra is appearing in Exotic 5 packs. Honestly while I think the casting itself is good, but seeing it three years in a row just get a little bit tired. I would replace it with some underused castings like the Koenigsegg Agera R and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV.

  15. I would definitely kill for a Lamborghini Diablo SV and the re-release of the Murcielago SV. Heck, the Bugatti Chiron and Koenigsegg One:1/Regera will also do the justice too! The list could go on forever, but there needs to be some new castings throw into the mix, especially we are seeing two casting repeated in 5 packs, and with the Huayra seeing third year in a row.
