Hot Wheels gives a little 2017 preview on Instagram…

Quite a few of you caught this, and I can’t tell you how many messages I got about it.

Last Friday was the HW Rally at the Mattel Design Center, which is essentially an in-house Hot Wheels celebration and preview for Mattel employees and their families.  Of course collectors would be ooohing and ahhhing over everything, but our day is coming in October.  For now, it is time for those that actually create these beauties to relish in their creations.

But of course Hot Wheels did give us a little taste.  The official Hot Wheels Instagram feed gave us a short video, and other Mattel designers and employees gave us their own previews.  And yeah, put something on Instagram, we collectors will find it.  See what you can pick out:

Alright, I am sure the video and photos will be scoured and analyzed like the Zapruder Film, but here is what I like most about these posts.  DON’T THE HOT WHEELS LOOK AWESOME OUTSIDE OF THE PACKAGE!?!?

DLM is the way to go, and seeing all these beauties side by side just makes me proud to be a DLM collector.  Value be damned.  These cars are SO MUCH BETTER loose.  No offense to the immense talent of those that do the card art, but these are just some happy happy photos.

Just make sure you recycle the cardboard…

  1. Alfa GT Jr. (and Lambo and Ford GT to its left) is from the Forza segment of the Entertainment series, and 911/964 and 510 (and Ghia and 935 to their right) are from the Car Culture Track Day series. All coming soon, with real riders!
