|Find 2016 Batch B at Wheel Collectors|
When Hot Wheels 2016 Batch C is released, there will undoubtedly be a lot of buzz. Porsche 356A, Fairlady Z, Acura NSX Super TH, among many others.
There will definitely be more buzz than what was given for Batch B. But there are two new models that are no slouches. One a fantastic new unlicensed casting, the other a New Model throwback to Hot Wheels five or ten years ago.
We will start with the ’63 Chevy II. The Chevy II is essentially the Nova, but at the time the Nova badge was only used on the highest level model. This particular casting has that lowered stance we are so used to with these releases with Hot Wheels, and it has all the detail as well. There is a plethora of releases that look just like this, like the ’66 Nova, ’64 Ford Galaxie, and the Ford Thunderbolt. There is even the fantastic ’64 Nova Wagon (I need to put those two together). These will all look nice together.
And it is nice to see this release. We have seen the asinine and fruitless JDM v. Muscle arguments among bored collectors before, and someone will inevitably say “well at least the JDM models aren’t the same old boring muscle cars Hot Wheels always puts out!” Well, that isn’t entirely true anymore.
We have seen a lot of Japanese New Models lately, and a lot of Porsches, and Lamborghinis, and or course a few Camaros and Mustangs. But we are not seeing the “other” American car output that we used to see from Hot Wheels 5 to 10 years ago, and frankly I miss it a bit. Granted, Hot Wheels did so many of these models that aren’t as many to do as there was in the past, but the Chevy II is a refresher.
It won’t generate the excitement of other new releases, but it is a very worthy addition to any collection.
As is the Cruise Bruiser. We don’t show many unlicensed vehicles here, but this demolition derby wagon definitely deserves some attention. It looks to be loosely based on wagons from the same era as the Chevy II, and it is wonderfully prepared for a demolition derby run. Great color, great deco, and an awesome new deco for the OH5 wheels it is sitting on. It is definitely the attention grabber of Batch B…
We haven’t seen a lot of the 2016 New Models, but we are off to a very good start.
