I have no idea if this is a 2014 or 2015 5-pack. I assume a 2014, but it really doesn’t matter.
What probably matters is many of you like a few or all of these models. Two Lambos, two Astons, and a Porsche. We definitely like packs with licensed models, but the casting choices in this pack leave a little to be desired. Deco-wise, this pack looks great, so we will focus on that instead of the fact that four of the five castings were disappointments when they were first released. Outside of the Aventador, they all could have been better.
But we won’t complain too much, because this really is a nice-looking pack, and we know many of you are after one. The Aventador and 918 in particular make this a set very much worth picking up. I would write more but a drive from LA to Salt Lake City today is taking precedent. So we hope you like the pics…
Hot Wheels Exotics 5-pack:
Matchbox Exotic 5 pack beats this one two to one!!!
Wasn't this similar to last year's World Race 5-pack? Except the Lotus Espirit and Mazda Furai from the old pack is replaced with the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Porsche 918?
Last year's had a Countach instead of the Aventador. Sò thay makes 2 similar models. Which is too much, in my opinion as well.
Man… Why do they keep putting OH5s on the One-77? 10SPs are as good as it can get.
Otherwise, I'd have to agree 4 of the 5 castings got some flaws, but the decal design and colour choice of the 918 is pretty good.
I have a lot to say about this pack. Some good things and some bad. Let's start with the bad. First of all, casting choice. Seriously? Are these the only exotics Hot Wheels has in their line-up? They used the Reventon and One-77 just last year in the World Race pack and with exactly the same deco (only swapped between the two) which in truth was an exotics pack with a different name. Lame. Very lame. Hot Wheels, why can't you use some other casting for this? There are so many good ones and some that we haven't seen in a long time and would love to see again. Carrera GT, Murcielago SV, Jaguar XJ220, McLaren F1 GTR and so many others that easily qualify as exotics. I understand you don't want to use Ferraris because they get their own separate pack but these? Whats wrong with them? Fail 1. Okay, so you used the same cars as last year. At least try a different tampo design and wheels? Are PR5 and OH5 the only wheels available on the aforementioned two cars? There are other rims that looks so much better and could've made the cars much more desirable. The Aston particularly looks pathetic with the OH5s. They make it look like its a kit car. And the rear wheels on the Reventon need to be fixed. You modified the F40 casting recently. Now its Lambo's turn. Thats fail 2. Chrome base on the V8 Vantage. I don't even know what to say here, except that it could've really been better. And thats fail 3. Seriously, the only reason I'll buy this pack is because of the 918 which looks lovely in that color (although the casting itself is crap) and the Aventador which, needless to say, is the star of this pack in my eyes. And maybe the Vantage as well as thats a model I don't have in my collection. This is a request to you Hot Wheels, please don't do such stupid and idiotic things ever again. Just because we're your loyal customers doesn't mean we will buy anything you throw at us. I expect something better next year. Anyway, thanks for the post and pics, John! You gave me an opportunity to express my opinion here so TY very much!
Nice set. It exceeds my 3 out of 5 rule and so I'll be getting it. If I only fancy 2 out of a set it usually stays on the peg.
However I'd have rather had a Sesto Elemento rather than the white Lamborghini.
Chris
This is a gorgeous group of exotics, and I'll surely snap-up 2 of them.
