Just Unveiled: 2014 Hot Wheels Toyota 2000GT recolored in yellow…

Just a quick heads up that Hot Wheels has recolored the Toyota 2000GT for 2014 in yellow.

The first pic we have seen shows the model sports the same tampo design, along with grey-rimmed MC5’s.  It is one of our favorite Hot Wheels models and any new design is welcome.  We will keep our hope up that we will see a plain white premium version someday (hmmm…Retro Entertainment James Bond, even though it isn’t a convertible?)
Yellow fit this car well, better than black in our opinion.  We will wait for full judgement once we have it in hand.
What do you think?

  1. Meh. I am unimpressed. I quite liked this casting in red, then reluctantly bought the black version as it gained more stripes… hoping a plain version would come next, but this I think I will pass on. Should have been the paler factory yellow, or at least have a solid green top/hood portion like one of the vintage 2000GT race cars. Yes, the wheels leave a little to be desired… perhaps a Matchbox wheel swap?

  2. The Toyota 2000GTs used in “You Only Live Twice” were not convertibles. They had no roofs at all. Sean Connery would not have fitted into the small 2000GT with the roof up, so the roofs were removed entirely and not replaced with soft tops.
