First Look: Hot Wheels Decades 80’s Pontiac Fiero…

The last of the latest batch of Hot Wheel Decades models, along with the Mustang Mach 1 and 2010 Camaro SS
This is the second time the revamped Fiero casting as been used this year, the other being in the Boulevard Series, pictured above.  With the Fiero back, as well as the return of the Toyota Supra and the introduction of the Toyota Hilux and Honda CR-X in the Hot Ones lineup, not to mention the Matchbox 4Runner, it makes me hopeful that Hot Wheels will tackle more cars from that era.  It is hard to believe that a car produced in 1984 is as much of a classic now as a 57 Chevy was in the 80’s.  But it is, and there is probably a place for a few of them in the Hot Wheels and Matchbox lineups.  I can think of a ton of cars I would love to see…

  1. It is hard to believe that a car produced in 1984 is as much of a classic now as a 57 Chevy was in the 80's.

Well … the same amount of time has passed. But I think even today there's a little more interest surrounding a Tri-Five Chevy than around a Fiero. I'm not passing judgment on either car–both have their supporters and detractors–but as long as American culture is dictated by the baby-boom generation and their selfish wants and needs, one will be more fetishized than the other.

  2. Yeah I should probably have made it more clear that I meant strictly time wise. I will clarify that here instead of editing the post and making you look like you don't know what you are talking about Jeff…;-)
