First Look: Matchbox 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40…

We collectors are nerds.  I know this from experience.  I do nerdy things.

Like…
Only collecting plain-colored Matchbox Land Cruisers.  You don’t want to know how much time I spent a couple of years ago thinking that through.  Nonetheless…generic liveries on the FJ40?  Out.  Plain colors?  Way in.  Don’t ask me why, just know I am a nerd.  Like you, reader.  Don’t deny it.
So this metallic purple will be welcomed into the fold.  NUUUURD!!!!!
(And by the way, isn’t this LC a good sign of where Matchbox is going here at the end of the 2012 range and moving into 2013?  If I had to predict, we see models like this and the 65 Mustang sporting realistic designs, while crazy designs (which aren’t going away) are reserved for models where that style makes more sense.  There will be exceptions, but I have hope…)

  1. Blue or purple? I can't tell. Either way I'll need about a dozen of 'em. Even so, if it's blue, this will be the third blue variant they've done–solid med/light blue and a solid dark blue.

Red and green are nice colors too …

  2. Yeah, Jungle Explorers LC from last year was in blue, so it looks pretty close in color. It would be awesome if MB did another matte paint job like it did for the 2010 Jungle LC.
