First Look: Hot Wheels Porsche Boxster Spyder…

Finally, the last of three HW New Models the Lamley Group is previewing.  We have already seen the Corvette Z06, 71 Hemi Cuda, and now the Porsche Boxster Spyder:

I have had this model for a week and I still don’t know what to make of it.  The new Boxster is a fantastic-looking car, and I don’t know if this model totally captures that.  Other times I will look at the model and I love it.  I think it has to do with the rear portion.  The missing tampo on the Z06, for example, does not bother me.  On the Porsche, however, no rear detail hurts it.  There is no line to cut the rear in half, and it makes the rear look too bulky for a Porsche.
One other problem is the rear wheels don’t sit flush with the edge of the car.  For the photos taken here, I had to pull the wheel out to make it even.  On the hidden side, there is quite a bit of overhang over the wheel.  That again makes the rear look too big.
With all that said, from other angles the car looks great.  The wheel choice works, and I love the white with black trim.  I will enjoy collecting this model, even with a flaw or two.
(And yes, I realize mine is a pink window variation…)
We have much more to come this week, including a DLMer’s view of the Ferrari 599XX Super Treasure Hunt, so keep coming back and be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if the other half of the Lamley Group finally makes is his much-anticipated debut here.  The home offices of the Lamley Group are buzzing…

  1. Sorry, but this is a huge disappointment. The whole thing is a little out of proportion. But probably the biggest problem is that it looks like it has a bodykit! Look how low the skirts, rear, and, now that I look at it, the front are. Above the middle of the wheels, a perfect casting. Below them, um…
