Lots of good stuff going on this week diecast-wise, so kick-back and let’s get to this!

- Another Trailer Queen Coming in Hot
Hot Wheels is set to drop their second Elite 64 transporter in the form of the Scania 770 S car hauler.

The new Scania COE casting features the same car trailer as the first release, albeit painted bright red now, but the real star of the show is the truck itself. The totally new Scania casting features a double-rear axle, swing-out side mirrors, clear plastic headlights, and the coolest bit, a tilting front cab that reveals the heart of the Scania.

The truck is priced at $55 (plus shipping and tax) and there is no RLC membership required as this sale is open to all. Creations’ site doesn’t show purchase limits, but if it’s as popular as thee Freightliner release before it, you’ll want to snag one sooner rather than later when it drops this Thursday.

2. We’re not at the Masters but we’re still Gulfing
Hot Wheels has not one, not two but THREE drops this week — the second of which is the Gulf livery Porsche 959.

The 959 features the classic Gulf blue and orange colorway over chrome 6-spoke wheels, but despite the scheme being attached to a Porsche, it just seems to lack the pizazz many of the previous RLC Gulf releases had. Will it be a hot seller or a sale dud? We’ll find out in less than 24 hours as the car drops at noon EST tomorrow.

3. IXO hits the Streets
Over the weekend IXO America debuted their new Indy Car casting during the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The race was won by Andretti Global driver Kyle Kirkwood, but the Indy diecast collectors are also scoring a big W with IXO’s new casting. They shared some great shots of the car on their IG, and I for one am excited to see what releases of this casting we get this coming season.

4. SO MANY CHASES
Like most collectors I am a part of many different collector groups on FB and various social media sites. This past week I came across a post on one of the Hot Wheels Collector groups talking about the latest Hot Wheels chase models — and user Rashjid M. posted a question about whether or not a certain silver line release was a chase or not.
If you’re not already aware, HWs quietly introduced a new silver line chase car type with the all-Mustang set that was recently released. The chase car was the ’65 Mustang fastback in blue — but the “regular” blue car wasn’t the chase — the chase version was spectraflame blue with a bright metal chassis. This caused a lot of confusion as there was debate about it actually being a chase model or just some variation.
Fast-forward to this week, Rashjid posted about the latest chase in the silver line (the Porsches seen below) when user Dan Reisdorf shared an email he received back from Mattel customer service about the issue:

So yes, there are chases in some of the silver line waves.
Am I thrilled about another type of HWs chase to hunt down? Not really. In my experience the silver line of cars has been incredibly hard to find (and priced rather high on the secondary market) and the inclusion of these chases will probably make completing a set of these next to impossible now. The spectraflame on the Porsche does look cool, but my God man, how many different styles of chases are we going to get from Mattel?!
5. G-G-G-G-G-G-G-G-Wagon out of Nowhere
In its third and most expensive drop of the week, Mattel (not the RLC) announced a new Hot Wheels collab featuring NICO, the brains behind BAPE and other high-end fashion creations.

The Mercedes-Benz Project G-Class Past II Future designed by NIGO is a whopping $80 and features a new G-Class casting designed to look like NIGO’s real-life G-Class creation.

John posted a sneak-peek of the prototype version of the special Mercedes a few months back, so if you’d like to get an even closer look at the truck you can check out his video:
