There has been a TON of Nissan GT-R released in 1/64. None of them can top Ignition Model’s offering.

Is there such a thing as overkill in the 1/64 world?  Probably. Some might argue the JDM craze we have seen hit almost every brand is overkill.  Not even close.  Maybe some ELEMENTS of the JDM craze, but in general Japanese cars are just filling the gaps that have always been there. Earlier this century, … Continue reading There has been a TON of Nissan GT-R released in 1/64. None of them can top Ignition Model’s offering.

The 2015 ’96 Nissan 180SX Type X is one of the best model debuts Hot Wheels has ever done. The 2018 Advan release finally comes close to it.

I remember hanging out in the back of the ballroom at the Hot Wheels Convention Finale in Lexington, Kentucky in 2015.  Robert Knox from Hot Wheels marketing was up front previewing some upcoming models.  Towards the end, he dropped a bomb. A slide showing a '96 Nissan 180SX.  Hot Wheels was doing an S13.  Amazing. … Continue reading The 2015 ’96 Nissan 180SX Type X is one of the best model debuts Hot Wheels has ever done. If the 2018 A Case is any indication, Hot Wheels’ 50th year is going to be its most Japanese yet.

I think we all go into every diecast year wondering if this one will be the best yet.  At least I hope we do.  I think optimism is an integral part of collecting, especially these days when the way we collect is so internet and social-media based.   We want to be excited about what … Continue reading If the 2018 A Case is any indication, Hot Wheels’ 50th year is going to be its most Japanese yet.

Still not sick of the Nissan GT-R, part 243: The gunmetal grey Hot Wheels R35.

Brand after brand after brand continues to embrace the GT-R.  Maybe one day I will be sick of them.  I'm not yet.  So here is another of MANY GT-R features on Lamley.  And there will be a lot more. I have already sung the praises of Ryu Asada's take on the latest GT-R for Hot … Continue reading Still not sick of the Nissan GT-R, part 243: The gunmetal grey Hot Wheels R35.

The new 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo and the July release from Tomica Limited Vintage is now out at Japan Booster

Yeah, I can totally get behind more Nissan GT-R's from Tomica Limited Vintage, especially when they are all a little different.  And these three in the July release are most certainly worth.  All three are replicas of the new Nismo GT-R, and one is even a Japan store exclusive. But Japan Booster has them all, … Continue reading The new 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo and the July release from Tomica Limited Vintage is now out at Japan Booster

This is the era of Nissan GT-R 1/64 overload. And the new Hot Wheels version tells me I am not sick of it one bit.

I don't blame any 1/64 collector who is a bit tired of the Nissan GT-R.  For the last few years it has been everywhere.  The first US batch of Majorette has two, Kyosho has dedicated entire releases to it (including one this fall), and Tomica Limited Vintage will have released over 15 (more I think, … Continue reading This is the era of Nissan GT-R 1/64 overload.
