Returning in style: Minichamps return to 1/64 scale.

It’s safe to say we’re spoilt for choice these days as diecast collectors. I recall vividly the days when there was no Tarmac, no Inno, no Tetsuma, no MiniGT, Para64 or Schuco 1/64 and no Majorette (here in the UK at least). Typing “Rauh Welt 1/64” into Google came up with zero results. Tomica’s LV/LVN lines were in their infancy. These days we have no end of choice, perhaps even too much. But it’s always exciting to see a new manufacturer appearing. Or in this case, re-appearing. A warm welcome back to 1/64, Minichamps.

The firm are no stranger to 1/64, indeed we’ve had some of their past offerings on Lamley before, but they’ve been absent for a few years now. Recently, teases of tie-ins with Tarmac Works have appeared and there’s been posts on the Wbros Instagram for some time of the upcoming Porsche 935/19, and now pre-orders are being taken on the next release in the Minichamps line, and it’s another Porsche: the 992 era Porsche 911 GT3. Three factory colours will be available starting with a very cool GT Silver Metallic:

There’s also Shark Blue:

And my personal favourite, GT3 Lava Orange:

Added together with the 935, it’s looking like this will be a great re-start for Minichamps, and I can’t wait to get a model in hand to review. Watch this space.

  1. I am looking forward to getting these. I thought I saw on their FB items these were in partnership with someone. One thing I haven’t seen is how to order them. I do have the blue and the 935 2020 on order with another dealer.

  2. Looks great….randomly got a Minichamps 1/64 ’93 Alfa 155 DTM car in my collection picked up at a motorshow in about 1994…hoping they’ll do a wide selection in 1/64…

  3. I got the blue and lava orange models. I almost got the silver one but some really woeful quality control meant the side mirror was titled the wrong angle and I passed on it. A shame as I would have wanted to get all three.
