Why I’m featuring it: I’ve been super impressed by my limited encounters with Mini GT so far – the NSX GT3 is fantastic and the Camel Land Rover easily made my top 10 of 2020. I’m late to the party with their Skyline R32, but it’s definitely a case of better late than never.

I’m an armchair fan of the classic Team Impul Calsonic livery so when Mini GT came out with their R32 GT-Rs late last year, I hit up Tokyo Station to get one. In truth I could have chosen any one of the three issues but went for the 1990 JTCC title-winning, #12 car.

Once again, Mini GT has hit a home run with the combination of detail, heft and playability in this model. The bright blue pops and the wheels look great – and roll beautifully, of course. Factor in the brand’s typically lower selling price than the likes of Tarmac or Inno64 (which has a fabulous Calsonic set of its own) and it’s hard to say a word against it!

Before we finish, let’s line up the Mini GT with some other Calsonic 1:64 models in my collection: two Kyoshos (an R89C and a Super GT Fairlady Z) and a Tomica Primera. Thanks for reading!
