We are two weeks away from the 16th(!) Matchbox Gathering of Friends. Here is what to expect.

Two weeks.  That is it.

The 16th Matchbox Collectors International Gathering of Friends (let’s call it the Gathering to save my typing fingers) starts July 20th in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Tickets are sold out, but you can still (kind of) be there.

The schedule is now out, and while the image is a bit blurry, you should be able to make it out:

I will try to get a better image, but for now that gives you an idea.  And if you can’t attend, be sure to follow the Matchbox Gathering Instagram feed to be able to stream the seminars live.

And if watching Mattel’s 2019 New Model Preview is your thing, and it really should be, you can catch that on the Lamley Instagram Live feed, as well as the Lamley YouTube Channel soon after.

Just know there will be ways to see what attendees see, even if you can’t make it.  The only problem is you won’t be able to enjoy the natural desert beauty of New Mexico, nor go home with some killer models.  Oh well.

I will try to share as much as I can as we progress through the weekend.  You will definitely want to be watching.

  1. I sure hope Matchbox continues their slow approach back into realism, which were the best years of Matchbox ever in my opinion. They’re childhood memories! 2005-2011 were the golden years (or as I call it, the Roaring Matchees) and played with hundreds of Matchboxes from that era as oppose to Hot Wheels. Ever since I was a kid, I loved realism, being able to play with cars that you would normally see on the roads everyday. I hope to see that for 2019 and beyond.

By the way, I found the new 2018 Matchbox H Case at Walmart several days ago and I just love the new card art! B-e-a-utiful!

  2. Please tell us what time you’ll be live streaming the 2019 new models preview. I’ll be taking a leave from work especially to see this event. Nothing else makes me more excited in the diecast world than seeing the Matchbox new models preview and seeing which new models they’re going to make. With the recent return to realism in last 2-3 years, I hope this year is going to be even better. And please, please, please for the love of god let there be some supercars.

  3. Im wanting to see
    2008 Impala – Police
    2007 Tahoe – Police
    Chevy PPV Vehicle
    2018 Tahoe
Maybe a 6 wheeled ladder truck
    More emergency vehicles

  4. Just for matchbox to stick to the real theme. Models which the row can can relate too.. . Great castings then stupid colours and emblems swamp them down.! I would like more service trucks. Like the late70s Mercedes shipping container or. Volvo ferrymaster tilt.

  5. My two favorite MB cars to this day are the Regular Wheels Jaguar E Type with the metal spoke wheels and the Comer TV Service Van, both from 1963. Honorable mentions go the Pontiac Gran Prix Sports Coupe, the Chevy Impala Taxi, and the Mustang Fastback.
