That title makes sense today, here on Thanksgiving. For those of you visiting this post any of the other 364 days of the year, now you know the context.
It is a time to be thankful, and I am thankful for many many things, including all of you who make doing this blog/channel/etc so enjoyable. I am also thankful that my habit of opening everything, no matter how rare, didn’t bite me back this last time.
Because I dropped one of the rarest models in my collection. The second I opened it.
I posted this video last night. Over the last few weeks I have been able to acquire a few Auto World Ultra Red Chase models, most notably the Ultra Red Lead Sled, a model I would consider my favorite Auto World release (thanks to my friends at SURPLUSgoodies for helping me acquire it). With that in mind, I pursued the insanely rare Ultra Raw Lead Sled as well (only 10 made), and paid what you might call a pretty penny for it on eBay.
As is the rule, I opened them, and did it on video. I’ll give you before and after photos below, but it is the process that is worth watching. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Great video and even lovelier models. The raw lead sled is wonderful. And don’t feel too bad about dropping it, I did the same thing with my GT40 once. My heart leapt out of my chest a bit, but it landed on carpet and was no worse for wear. Thankfully these are built extremely well.
They are built well…now, if if he had done that with an M2 it might be a different story…
