#lamleydaily – August 28, 2017
Model: Hot Wheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Line: 2016 Mystery Pack (International Market Exclusive)
Where to get it: You can search “hot wheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS“, or find a friend to trade with.
Why it’s in the collection: Because I am a completist with most Hot Wheels Porsches, and it is always fun to pursue models that are not easy to get. This one most certainly was not easy to get.
I typically only showcase one specific model on the #lamleydaily, but to give this model a little context, here it is with its three other counterparts:
Four colors, one deco. The yellow, red, and Zamac are all 2015 Mainline models, with the Zamac a Walmart exclusive. The grey? A 2016 Mystery Pack exclusive. One of those models found in foil bags.
You can find those bags everywhere, but this one came specifically from a series released in non-US, International markets only. Think New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, etc. I got mine from New Zealand, if I remember correctly. A few years ago, acquiring an international-only would have been hard for US collectors, and vice versa. Today, with all the internet and social media connections we have, it is easy, if you are willing to pay shipping and send over something cool in return.
This little set of Porsches is a perfect example of making it work. In the US? Send the Zamac that our international friends can’t get. And our international friends? Send the Mystery model in return. That makes collecting a whole lot more fun.
This is maybe the best looking and probably my favorite of the 4 versions shown here. Even better than the Zamac. Silver is a signature Porsche color and the red lip rims and black stripes enhance the look even more.
P.S – I also think this GT3 RS is a way better casting than the new GT3 RS.
You forgot the white one from the 2016 multipack and the green one from this year’s one.
Just showing those with this specific deco.
I believe the green one from multipacks now has the same deco pattern, doesn’t it?
No. No hood stripe and the side stripe doesn’t start with the HW logo
Awesome Porsche 911 GT3 RS’S you reviewed congrats thumbs up. I’m still on the hunt for that mystery model Porsche 911 GT3 RS. I have the rest in my collection thumbs up.
I sold all my Porsches on ebay because my collection is getting out of hand. High five!
I love the model and have all three of the mainline versions, and while the gray one is nice, I don’t think it’s worth the trouble to acquire. I think the ZAMAC’s my favorite.
I had the ZAMAC in my hands from a dump bin when it came out, but I regret it now folks!
(I did get the ’70 AAR Cuda Zamac in similar red though, which was just as cool!).
Mystery solved, thanks, I knew that one was a mystery pack model but didn’t know it wasn’t available here in the US. Thanks again!
